Yeah, still nearly 3 weeks away, but there's nothing else happening.

Can we dare to hope that the next superstar of Aus cricket is unearthed in this series? Well, we can, but we are sure to be disappointed.
At least NoShow won't be there to shout at the screen at.

It'd be ironic if the next stars of Aus cricket are a couple of SAffers after the debacle in Yarptown back in March.

I was in the Taxi queue at Sydney Airport today and Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummins were a few spots ahead of me. The queue was long (about 40 mins) and it was cold - can't have been great for their backs.

A motley crew of bits and pieces players, recalled veterans, white ball specialists and random Yarpies. And they’re not even calling themselves England!skully wrote:It'd be ironic if the next stars of Aus cricket are a couple of SAffers after the debacle in Yarptown back in March.

We are missing 5 ( or 4 and a ? ) through stupidity and injury
If we didnt look ordinary it would be the mid 90s when our A Team was a match for the Ones

"Cricket is not played on paper".
Just thought I'd make that useful observation. At least it's original.

I'm very much counting on that, Peter. However our recent record v Pak in UAE would such "rubbish on paper, rubbish on field".

I am still puzzled by a number of the selections. Agar, Langoustine, Slacker and Side to name but four.

Sids is a second string trundler who is not guaranteed a game for Vic. Agar ain't no star all rounder. Fink has a dubious record in first class cricket.

Puddle and Purple joint VCs
"Australia have unveiled two new vice-captains for the Test side, with allrounder Mitchell Marsh and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood appointed to the positions after a lengthy selection process.
In a first for the sport's flagship side, Cricket Australia announced on Thursday that dual deputies to captain Tim Paine had been chosen following an application system adopted by new coach Justin Langer from the Australian Football League that featured a player vote."
---------------------------------------------------
Sigh. I guess this means Puddle is an automatic selection these days. Fark you Langer and your bogus Wozzification of the Aus side.

having 2 vice captains either means your team is comfortable sharing the load, or your leaders are dumb as dog shit.

LOL @ Trevor Hohns.
He mentioned Puddle's lineage as one of the reasons he is VC. Looks like Tugga's boy is a cert to not only play for Aus but be captain.

Good idea appointing a vice captain who's not necessarily a given. Will promote stability.

Australian team for the match that started today against Pakistan A is Finch, Renshaw, Khawaja, S Marsh, Head, M Marsh, Paine, Neser, Starc, Holland & Lyon. I'm guessing that is also the likely XI for the 1st test.

Come on people! This is the new era of Australian cricket. Officially known as the Head - Paine era.
