His debut was in Brisbane.

First time two Australians have made a maiden ton in the same innings since Tugga and Tubby in 1989.

Gouse times.

Both on the same day, and Dean Jones in one of his more team-oriented moments co-piloted Tubby through to his (in his third Test and the first time he had got as far as 50) and set Tugga off on a flying start towards his (in his 164th Test having never previously made double figures if you believe Horrie & old mate ccc)

This arvo Sid/Sir Les/Banjo became the 13th Australian bat in the last 50 years to score a ton in his second outing - joining a club less celebrated, but no less illustrious (for a start DGB and Trumper are included) than the guys who did it one Test earlier.

In chronological order from first (in 1972 as it turns out) to most recent: (and no running to Crocinfo):

1. Ross Edwards v Eng TB July 72
2. John Benaud v Pak MCG Jan 73
3. Tony Mann v India WACA Dec 77
4. Greg Ritchie v Pak Sept 82
5. Tom Moody v SL Gabba Nov 89
6. Michael Slater v Eng Lords Jume 93
7. Greg Blewett v Eng  WACA Feb 95
8. Adam Gilchrist v Pak Hobart Dec 99
9. Michael Hussey v WI Nov 05
10.Phil Hughes v SA Feb 09
11.David Warner v NZ Hobart Dec 11
12. Peter Handscombe v Pak Dec 16

Benaud made his having already been given the heave-ho for the following week's Sydney Test to accommodate the return of Keith Stackpole from injury. He also went from 94 to 100 by putting one over the bowler's end sightscreen, and batted throughout his four and a half hour innings in 35 deg + heat in a thick cable-knit jumper.

Edwards made the highest score of the 12, an unbeaten 170, filling in at the last minute for the injured Bruce Francis (such massive shoes to fill!) Unfortunately, his effort inspired the selectors to slot him in as opener permanently for the next Test which was the Headingley debacle. He was out in the first over in both innings, and his effort back in his normal spot on another viciously turning wicket at the Oval made you think he may have done OK against the spin a couple of weeks earlier, had he got to face any.

Mann's match-winning innings from the unlikeliest of platforms, stayed in the record books for nearly 30 years until Gillespie's effort in SL..

I was at the scene of the crime for Slat's innings, which is another trivia answer: first man out and fifth lowest score in his team''s first innings, did not bat in the second innings, did not bowl, did not take a catch, unanimous choice as MOTM.

There were no repeats of the Bradman scenario where he debuted, was dumped and made a century on return. All second tests came immediately after the debut Test on the fixture, although Moody'a and Handscombe's second Tests were both against different countries to their first.
