https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/cricket/cricket-tv-rights-channel-7-starts-process-to-pull-out-of-broadcast-deal/news-story/407bc87eae3777364d5ef2fdd0a2a2f2

Channel Seven have commenced the process to terminate its contract with Cricket Australia.

In a dramatic escalation of the TV rights drama, News Corp understands that the network sent a legal letter to CA bosses earlier this week informing them that they would begin the process to cancel the remainder of their $450 million deal, citing a belief that Cricket Australia is in breach of their contract.

Cricket Australia say the letter sent to them was not a termination letter.

Industry sources have told News Corp that Cricket Australia has 14 days to respond, before the dramatic escalation would then go into a lengthy mediation and arbitration process.

LOL @ Channel 7.

Bitching about possible low crowds at the BBL, apparently their main beef. Um, have they heard of Covid-19??  scratch  scratch

Whole thing has been a cluster ****** on both sides.
Channel 7 overpaid in the name of getting the rights , and CA trying to milk the Big Bonk for more than it's worth.

First four rounds of the Shield to be played in Adelaide. Victoria & NSW have agreed to postpone their first round game till Nov 17 because of South Australia's quarantine laws. Season kicks off on Oct 10th.

reading through the articles on the CA website with a countdown of the 30 best individual Shield seasons, they're down to the final 2. Guess it's "Funky" Miller's 67 wickets in a season vs Katich's 1506 runs in a season?

Queensland Bulls Squad: Usman Khawaja (c), Xavier Bartlett, Joe Burns, Blake Edwards, Benji Floros, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Lachy Pfeffer, Matt Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Bryce Street, Mitchell Swepson, Jack Wildermuth.

I think Matt Renshaw (155 grade cricket runs @ 31) was a bit lucky to make the squad ahead of either Sam Heazlett (287 @ 71.75), Nathan McSweeney (339 @ 113) or Jack Clayton (227 @ 75.67).

WW - I was a big Renshaw fan. Seemingly possessed both a good technique and temperament. Do you have a view on why he has seemingly fallen off a cliff? Do you reckon he has a chance of recovering his early career form. FWIW he is also a fantastic slip fieldsman.

Horrie, I think his problem is psychological in a couple of different ways.

One is the balance between attack & defence. He is a very fine strokemaker who regularly destroys bowling lineups in grade cricket & sometimes in Shield cricket such as the latter half of the 2017/18 season. However, in first class cricket, he has usually been ultra-cautious. When Renshaw gets the balance right, I believe he can score heavily in the Sheffield Shield.

I also believe the local media has caused him problems throughout his career. They have been promoting him as a contender for a Test spot when his form didn't warrant it. He should have just been concentrating on Shield cricket without that kind of pressure.

Last season, he was dropped from the Shield team & decided to take a few weeks off because of his mental state. I would have preferred to see the selectors wait until he was hitting centuries in grade cricket before picking him this season.

good luck to him in his first game.

The Vics will have some debutantes as well when we eventually play.

To put it might mildly, our prep has been less than ideal but I am hoping we will be competitive. Lucky they have Rogers coaching.
