So Ashes retained.

Australia now has a very interesting dilemma. Koo was unplayable, 2nd was unplayable, Spesh (Boland) took 6-7, JRich took a michelle in Adelaide, and Haze is ready to go.  It seems only Elmer and 2nd are safe.

Perhaps it's time to give Koo a rest, but it is his home track. Shirley Spesh can't be left out, but that would seem harsh on JRich.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Still, they pale into insignificance when confronted with England's problems.

Actually, they could do worse than choose Inglis, Whiteman, and Renshaw. What's Sam Robson up to these days?

Does that Nick Hockley bloke have a playing background? How about Christian O'Connell? or Tony Abbott?

Not really sure what happened to him, far from being one of the worst openers we’ve tried and I always thought he would resurface. Can’t believe he’s 32 though, still think of him as a youngster!

Guess Bess and Lawrence have to play, as they’ve been our best players of the tour so far on the grounds that they haven’t got on the field. Woakes should play as a batsman. Beyond that, no idea…

I’m suggesting playing him as a batsman, of course we won’t ask him to bowl Wink

Incidentally, Woakes has the third best batting average among England players this year…

Or England could just concee the remaining two Tests (as they did the first three), and apply for relegation to the Second Division.

I know there’s crowds to think of, and obviously the WTC points now, but playing dead rubbers in Test cricket does feel increasingly pointless, especially when you’re stuck with the same touring party.

Although I can only think of three Ashes series in about 35 years (2005, ‘09, ‘19) where the final Test was meaningful (and the urn itself wasn’t at stake in the latter even though we were able to get a Desmond (RIP) in the series itself).

Stoopid Spiv weather. Ruining a whitewash should be the last straw for Jan Tests at the SCG. As it stands the combo of the Spiv Govt and CA is jeopardising the Hobart Test.
