Re: Ryan Campbell
Jaysus, he's only a few weeks older than me!
The coma part doesn't sound promising. That happened to Marsh.

Re: Ryan Campbell
Aye. Induced coma is a worry given poor old Bacchus's outcome.

Re: Ryan Campbell
That it is encouraging news.
Poor Rod obviously had a cardiac arrest, a delayed resuscitation, and a severe acquired brain injury or brain death. No matter how well they got his heart going again, it was too late. There are worse outcomes though - qv Michael Schumacher or (more pertinently) Jackie Wilson.

Didn’t know the story of Jackie Wilson, except for the fact he had a posthumous number one hit over here, and Top of the Pops confused him with a darts player…

Former Australia ODI cricketer Ryan Campbell could be back in charge of the Netherlands as soon as next month after being discharged from hospital in England following a cardiac arrest last month.
Campbell, who played two ODIs for Australia and has maintained a significant place in the game as a coach in Hong Kong and now the Netherlands national team, was placed in an induced coma at Royal Stoke University Hospital last month after falling ill during a family holiday to the UK.
The incident came in the wake of the deaths of Australian cricket legends Shane Warne and Rod Marsh.
But follow-up tests have shown no damage to the heart and doctors have categorically excluded the possibility of a heart attack as the cause of the cardiac arrest.
Campbell, 50, is expected him to make a full recovery and re-join the Dutch team sooner rather than later.
After leaving hospital, Campbell, who also played for Hong Kong during the 2016 T20 World Cup at the age of 44 and has coached the Netherlands since April 2017, paid tribute to the hospital staff
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at the Royal Stoke Hospital critical care unit for their incredible professionalism, kindness and compassion,“ Campbell said in a statement.
“I also want to thank Beci Bassett, a parent at the adventure playground in Cheshire who immediately administered CPR. Her courage and quick intervention quite simply saved my life.
“My wife Leontina was at my bedside hour after hour and kept our families informed of my progress. She dealt bravely with every development thrown her way. LT, I thank you and love you.”
The Netherlands are set to play England in a series of games next month.

His name also crops up in the official title of the 'well-known' Van Morrison song usually called 'I'm In Heaven (When You Smile)'. He did the original of the Rita Coolidge mega-hit Higher And Higher.
My memory of TOTP (from the mid 70s) was that it was in constant danger of confusing its backside with its elbow.
Great news re Ryan Campbell
