Ryan Sidebottom

After an arduous year and a bit of international cricket, playing in just about as many matches as he is available for, the guy looks absolutely cream crackered. He came into the side as a breath of Nottinghamshire fresh air, swinging the ball at 85mph+, but now looks like a guy who's struggling to keep his feet on the ground, let alone to wang the ball down at good pace whilst keeping it tight and swinging it. He has had an okay series because he's a good player, but he's far from his best at the moment and looks like he's running on empty to me. People have been saying he looks tired for ages, but the extent of his tiredness seems to be manifesting itself match-by-match. He's losing his line and his pace and at times is visibly struggling.

England have a big thing about resting their young bowlers, but it's time they gave SiBo a prolonged rest in an effort to get him back and ready for two tough looking tours. Let him skip the ODI series maybe.

Aye - 10 overs from your opening bowler when you're looking to bowl the oppo out suggests he shouldn't be opening the bowling.

The irony is that another Nottinghamshire bowler was dropped for this match on account of apparent fatigue . . . on the evidence of the last few days, it was de wong wan.

Sidebottom's looked totally f*cked ever since the end of the NZ tour - lost some zip and his control is all over the place.

Don't know what the matter is with him. If it's as a result of his back injury, why the hell are England still playing him? Why isn't he on the sidelines getting his body right?

I don't care who you are, if you can only bowl at about 75% fitness, you might as well not be there.
