BIGGEST FORUM FLOUNCE
Re: BIGGEST FORUM FLOUNCE
Not sure if this thread is 'gold', but there are so many allusions to forum history (at least until I joined in about 6 pages back and it rapidly degenerated into a dissection of the relative merits of Lesser Brewing And Distilling Products) ...
Themes include:
Why Did Sarah Flounce?
The Forumer You're Most Afraid To Meet
Zim And Horace Fight To The Death At The MCG
NFI = Merlin? (always guaranteed to get a reply from Merlin)
Danny's Festering Armpit
The Great JC Computer Heist
Pollyanna Puts The Accountant Right
AD and the great Banana and Orange Shortage of the late 1930s
Avoiding Vomiting During Teenage Copulation Rituals
Rumpole's Favourite Tipple
Should almost be compulsory reading for new forumers. Oh.

He just stopped posting this last time, didn't he?
Well, just checked. His last post was over a year ago. There was a blow-up not long beforehand, but the 'farewell' post was succinct.
Anyway, for anyone interested, I hear from him occasionally and he seems fine, busy with work and doing something that he loves.

Indeed. Have shared a few messages with him, and he's happy as a pig in poo. Good on him.
Before his final departure, he had a nasty health scare at work and had to get carted off in an ambulance. I think this was the moment he decided life was too short to get wound up on a piss-ant little forum. Wise choice.

beamer flounced recently after not being able to cop lardy's reminders about how pissweak England's spirit of cricket arguments and moral victory claims were during Ashes 2023.

Re: BIGGEST FORUM FLOUNCE
He may do. He flounced before after a disagreement with Danny, and returned. Apparently I was a qunt because a) I did not agree that England won the 2023 Ashes, morally, and the Australians were a pack of cheats for running Bairstow out in a move which in his view changed the result of the series; b) I had repeatedly disagreed with his premise that the best way forward in Tests was to select a couple of punch-hitters to open and hope that this came off often enough to justify the gamble (and I still don’t); and c) extrapolating from the above, I simply couldn’t engage in sensible debate ie … be swayed to his correct viewpoints.
He made many other excellent posts over the years when engaged in conversation with multiple forum participants, including me, so to lose him due to a single blind spot is a loss. One of many not due to the grim reaper. Taipan included.

Re: BIGGEST FORUM FLOUNCE
I hadn’t looked in for a while and wondered if anything had been said, especially with the likely lack of English comment on a major Test series.
I did feel things were turning personal in terms of lardbucket in particular, and those two topics were just examples, I felt my posts on other subjects were also given such treatment on occasions.
On the whole, though, I’ve felt a growing anti-English sentiment which may have sometimes been tongue-in-cheek but not always, and the other thing magnifying that for me was the lack of backup given all the other English posters are long gone or make occasional appearances nowadays. From the impressively diverse cricket community we had on here and its predecessors in the past, it’s become largely an Australian echo chamber, and thus no longer an enjoyable forum to be part of.
So after pretty much two decades on here and C4 before it, on reflection I think it’s run its course for me. I may drop in occasionally e.g. for Ashes series as certain other English posters do, and see if Dello/Fromage is still putting his 50p coins in the meter to keep the lights on…
