Re Punters award . . .
So when did the Twenty20 hit and giggle become a major tournament?
no-one can argue with the award given to Ponting, one of the greatest batsmen of his generation and destined to be recalled as a legend of the game when he eventually retires. That day, however, remains a while off yet and there are more trophies for him and Australia to collect. It's about time someone challenged them in a major tournament. The Twenty20 is a perfect opportunity.

Ok, so Ponting gets the Cricketr of the year award. His stats weren't as good as Shiv's in either form of the game, but he won all that is to be won so I can understand the decision.
But not having Shiv in the test team is farcical. Vaughan? Vaughan ? As an opener? What an insult to Shiv.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Vaughan was picked and Chanderpaul was not.
They both played 6 Tests in the qualifying period.
Vaughan played all of his at home, and 3 of them were against the Windies. He averaged 54 with 2 tons and a fifty.
Chanderpaul played all of his away, in Pakistan and England. He averaged 81 with 2 tons and 5 fifties.
Simply makes no sense.

No, MB.
What a joke. I mean, certainly it's a little subjective but still, it is totally undeniable that Shiv should be in the Test team. As I've said previously, he should've got player of the year ahead of Ponting IMO.

Its a joke that Yawn got in and Shiv didn't.
The man was class against us this summer. He scored runs for fun in a pish-poor team, Vaughan on the other hand was playing in a side that mullered that pish-poor team, and playing against bowlers who are being dealt with in county cricket.

Totally agree that Shiv's omission is indefensible.
Pretty surprised that Boucher would get into any JAMODI team ahead of Gilly as well.

It's a quota thing. ICC despise too many Aussies in any "World XI".
