Re: SA v WI, T20 WC, Johannesburg, 11th Sept
I'll be watching this whole tournament very keenly. It's success could well decide the fate of the 50 over game. A highly succesful 20-20 world cup following on from the awful 50 over world cup earlier this year could well spell the end (Or at least the reduction) of 50 over cricket.
Even the warmup games have been sell outs so already 20-20 is winning.
Live bands will be performing, and spectators will be allowed to bring musical instruments into the ground, which will definetly help the atmosphere. Also, they're only charging something like 40 rand (About $7 US) a ticket, which is a bargain and should ensure full houses for pretty much every match.

It's way too early to judge the long term future of 20/20.
Right now we are getting teams playing at most 2-3 games a year, to fill the 50 over void you would need teams playing 20+ games a year.
We have no idea how the public will feel about the game when it's played week in week out with no WC at stake.

Well it's difficult to get excited about this tournament as I struggle to see how Windies cricket will develop even if we do really well in the tournament.
I'm not sure I like the idea of one of our must promising batsmen, Narsingh Deonarine, having a great big slog and losing all form of technique.
Still I will be watching. Hope Fidel hits Smith on the head.

Yeah, England made that mistake once.
He came back in at number 8 looking a little confused and played the best innings he had all summer.
Where there's no sense...

Although in Saf they tend to place a male dancer in with the girlies, who then proceeds to gyrate in front of the camera.
Not a fan of seeing some blokes meat and 2 veg thrust towards the TV screen tbh...
Now the carib beer girlies, now you're talking
