Trescothick has a relapse.
Surely this extinguishes that little glimmer of hope that he may return to the Test side. It's such a shame. What a waste of a cracking player. He would have had around 7,000 Test runs by now. Poor old Marcus.

It seems he's more concerned about not becoming unwell again . . . a wise decision on his part and best luck for the FC season.

Waste of a talent, but fair play to him he has his priorities straight. No point in living a life that makes you miserable.

Not good news, perhaps he is destined not to play international cricket again. A huge pity if that's the case, but he has to put his well-being first.

Poor chap, he was such a great servant to English cricket. I hope he gets well in himself.

A real shame for Tresco. Seems he suffers from homesick-itis way worse than Harmy. At least he knows his priorities.

Aye. I wish Harmi would just go home to the missus and the kids where he's happy.

Yes, we have to forget about both of them now in England terms really. A real shame as they're two of the most talented cricketers we've produced this decade and we haven't got anything approaching a like-for-like replacement for either of them. But we've got to move on and build a team around players who can be relied on to cope well with touring and being away from home.

Very fine player, always good to watch. Sad to think he'll never be seen on the international stage again.

Which two? Tresco and Harmi?

I seem to recall a different response from this board when Tait chucked it.

Wonder whether Boycott will say the same?

Highly doubtful he'll ever represent the poms again now that it appears almost certain that touring is beyond him. Doubt they'd accede to any request to only play tests at home.

agree with the above...the black dog is very hard to toss...i admire his bravery (and that of Tait) in being open about his condition...
there is still considerable stigma and misunderstanding about mental illness...there will come a day when an acute episode of depression or psychosis is socially considered no different to an acute episode of appendicitis
