English county season 2008 (III)
More runs for Samit Patel. You'd have to think that if he makes a genuine effort to address his weight issues, he'll be right in contention for England.

you're beginning to sound like me! I've no doubts about his talent and technically he is one of the better players in county cricket.

Bopara! Holy f*ck! Seems like he's taken his game to a new level this season. Never really had him down as the sort of player with the ability to find the boundry often enough to score a double century in a one day match. I guess he didn't have to face much.....

Re: English county season 2008 (III)
Cheers, Bas.
Only got ourselves to blame.
Threw (perhaps literally) away a chance to secure a home tie, and a crazy decision to bat first today.
Ah well . . . no visit to a big Lord's final this year.
Arse.

Not sure about Ravi opening but 3 or 4 sure..
Agree - Shah & Bops are not biffers despite todays knock.
It's time we gave them a decent run up the order
Shah and Bopara won't both play. It'll be one or the other. Cook and Bell are undroppable, Collingwood's captain, Pietersen's the best batsmen. Luke's Sussex.
Leaves one place - down in the biffers - for one of those number threes.
Sad, but true.
Cook
Wright
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Shah/Bopara
Ambrose +
Swann
Broad
Sidebottom
Anderson
There's your team. You know it and I know it.

"Focus on the part of the wicket you want to land the ball on..."
Another Harmison ignores the basics of bowling and goes his own way... (and outbowls his brother)

Re: English county season 2008 (III)
Can't believe that, firstly, we got ourselves in a winning position and secondly that, having done so, we went on to lose the match. Once again, our opening conundrum can be cited as a major part of a defeat.

Fark, that's depressing really. It's not as if there's a world cup around the corner - if we can't experiment now, when can we?
