It's been over 100 years...
...since an Aussie batsman was dropped after scoring back to back tons, apparently.

Only 11 places on the ship. Jaques? Dropping him would make the selectors look foolish.
And Clarke is VC, and has the seal of the paper bag too.

So it would seem. The Spivs and the Big Banjandrum seem sacrosanct.

Aren't they preparing for a tour to India?
The candidate for dropping in that case seems obvious. And balding. And more than slightly dim.

Aye. It's like the elephant in the room. I will be mightily impressed with the first person in the press to push it seriously (and Spanky doesn't count).

fleascott scored two painfully slow tons, both in the 2nd innings on flat decks against a pretty average attack...

Sounds like he's perfect for an India tour.

And wasn't the second test ton made in the first innings?

[snigger] @ horrie's mangling of the facts.
And who knows whether the big galoot comes good. He may decide after sunning and cooking for himself through the Brisvegas winter, that he's happy to pull up stumps.
Unenviable piece of history for Fleas if he does get the @rse after consecutive Tests with tons. Other than Dizzy, I wonder if any other Aussie has been dropped after making a 150?

Either way, Krabich is better than Hattie. I'd like us to face either of them, with MTB, next year. They're so not Justin Langer.
Re: It's been over 100 years...
No argument re Fleas v Frog, Dan. But being younger and a specialist opener, I know who the selectors will go for.

I can just about guarantee it. Katich is 33 in August, Jaques has just turned 29. They will go with the latter as the partner for the Galoot.
Having said that, if the Frog struggles v spin in India (and I wasn't convinced with his style v Chuck on Aus wickets, even though he got runs) then Fleas will be in the wings waiting to step in.

Fleas,Jaques,Johnson & Casson for 2009 please.
Not that any of them are a pile of cack, but they're obviously not in the same class as previous players.

Aye JKL. I think you'll get 3 out of 4, at the very least.
Should be a good series. If we are not playing at our peak, I think the urn may change hands again.

Bwahhahaahahahahaha... Your Mad skulls.
Our batters (KP apart) will struggle to score the same amount of runs as Ponting. Your batting will blow us away!!

TBH skulls, we'll have to improve massively to compete. Hussey and Ponting have been somewhat out of form, when they have been in nick, Aus look a totally different side.
Re: It's been over 100 years...
That was my point, holcs. In 2005 it was only the fact that Ponting scored plenty and Warnie bagged 40+ wickets that we gave you a run and remained in the series until the death. If Ponting, Hayden, Hussey, Clarke, Symonds does not fire then you have the ability to win the series. It's no secret that Bung-Gump-Midge-Diddly is miles from Pidg-Bung-Diz-Warnie. And there's no Gilly (not that he contributed in 2005 anyway).holcs wrote:skully wrote:Aye JKL. I think you'll get 3 out of 4, at the very least.

I'm hoping a year older will be one year too many for SiBo (is it just me or does he look a bit crotchety on those knees), as we do not play hooping swing that well.

Sidders has always been crotchety as far as I can remember.
We are basking in the less than mortal aussie performance in the WI, whilst putting to one side the carnage awaiting us when the saffers arrive on these shores it has to be said.

A fair call JKL. The Saffie series will be an excellent litmus Test for your team. If they compete v Saffies then I will start to sh!t myself re Ashes 09.JKLever wrote:Sidders has always been crotchety as far as I can remember.
