Musharraf Resigns
Has Done so. Usual pattern of Pakistani politics - populist civilian government elected which becomes hopelessly corrupt replaced by military strongman who becomes hopelessly oppressive and is ousted and replaced by populist civilian government which becomes hopelessly corrupt...etc..etc...Only two problems this time round - Al-Qaeda and nuclear weapons. Al-Qaeda have established a strong base in Pakistan and are feeding the current conflict in Afghanistan which could have otherwise been closed down long ago.
Pakistan is one of the top three "collaborationist" regimes islamic fundamentalists wish to topple and take over - Egypt - because of the size of its population - Saudi Arabia - because of its oil resources - and Pakistan - because of its nuclear weapons - in their bid to create a new caliphate stretching from Spain to Indonesia.
Pakistan will probably be he biggest problem on the desk of the new US President next year. Obama has threatened to order the US military to enter Pakistan to remove Al-Qaeda and Taliban sympathisers with or without the home government's permission. McCain has just vowed to pursue OBL "to the gates of Hell" to bring him to justice. He might try knocking on a few doors in Peshawar or Karachi first.
On a more germane note, it looks as if the Champions' Trophy is off unless the ICC get their finger out and resite it.

Re: Musharraf might resign with in the next 2 hours....
So shall one sow so shall one reap. Futile to expect sunflowers [democracy and peace]when one has planted for cactus [fundamentalism and terrorism].
Unfortunately some farking corrupt Govts. like the current Useless Political A---holes [UPA]led by Congress [obsessed with Muslim votebanks] in India is going all out to boost Islamic Fundamentalism in India to ensure we soon end up going the basket way like Pakistan in the long run. The result is the current spate of bomb attacks all over India helped by a Govt. that firmly believes that terrorism can't be stamped out by giving a befitting strong response but by handing out roses and pensions to terrorists and looking the other way pretending peace is achieved.
There will come a time when teams will refuse Indian tours as well @ rate of the way the current bastich Govt. is pushing communal anarchy to the brink.

If the US military enters Pakistan without permission surely that will be considered an act of war?

Well you're obviously more familiar with the country than I am, PP, but you could have fooled me. Who's letting all the car bombs off then? Who killed Benazir Bhutto in order to stir the pot? My knowledge of Pakistan is partially drawn from watching "A Mighty Heart" about the kidnapping and murder of Daniel Pearl (for which Angelina Jolie, who played his wife Marianne, should have got an Oscar) and in that the slums of Karachi seem to be infested with A-Q sympathisers.

That might yet happen after Russia's stroll into sovereign Georgia and their follow-up
threat that nukes would be programmed and pointed at their former allies in Poland, Ukraine
Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania!
It ain't just the US that causes the concern .... all they do is throw in foot soldiers!

Re: Musharraf might resign with in the next 2 hours....
There is a huge difference between "presence" and "strong base".
There is no denying of Al-Qaeda's presence in some areas of Pakistan but "strong base"...surely NOT.

What next? No government - no matter how corrupt and repressive it may seem at the time - is too crap to be followed by an even crapper one. (Example: The world thought Zimbabwe was as badly misruled as it could be by Ian Smith...)
