Re: US open tennis
Jankovic breaks back and is right back in the first set.
This isn't a bad final, some fantastic rallies and winners.

I do think even if he doesn't win tomorrow that it's still a matter of when rather than if he'll win a slam.

It's the old neighbouring States Regions Countries local Derby thing. God wants us to hone our fighting/debating skills thus becoming stronger as a species and who better to start on than the Countries around you. It's called Tribalism.

He's from Australia's equivalent of the Bible Belt. You'll have to cut him some slack.

Twice to Serena at Wimbledon, once to her at the French and Australian and the US
She also lost to Hingis at the US.

Disagree with your second point of course.
'Americas team', *spits*. My boys are on at 1.30, I hope I can stay awake long enough enough to see them get beat.
Re: Murray. I can't for the life in me know why any normal, footy loving English bloke such as yourself would want Murray to succeed. Ignoring the 'anyone but England' footy shirt quote the bloke is everything a sports fan doesn't want a sporting idol/icon to be. Murray's a boring, ugly f*** with zero personality and s**t hair... and he's a jock! Ffs, how bad can it get???
I've been through that one far too many times with far too many people to go there in detail again, but shame on you for believing that press engineered bollux.
No wonder the bloke comes across as dull in his interviews - he gets involved in some genial banter at a shared press conference with Tim Henman and gets crucified at every turn for the rest of his career to date.
It's pretty pathetic actually.
Genial banter or not, that's how jocks think. Misen I didn't mind him having a pop at the English, it's the face saving PC bollux that followed that did my head in. If he'd gone on record and said, "Yeah, of course I meant it, I wouldn't be a Scotsman if I thought anything else.' he would have earned my respect, but he didn't.
Still not buying it even if what you say what was true.
Did you actually hear the press conference anyway? Clearly not I would say.
Even if he doesn't want the England football team to win, I fail to see what relevance this has to me (or anyone else) wanting him to win a tennis match as a British compatriot.
Many, if not most, Derbyshire folk have a pathological loathing of all things Notts, and like nothing more than seeing our football clubs and cricket team on the back of a good hiding, but would this fact stop me as a Notts lad supporting someone from Derbyshire on the world stage in an individual event?
Rebecca Adlington is from Mansfield. If she's got any interest in football, she's probably a Mansfield Town fan, and one of the prerequisites of being a Stag is an utter hatred for my team Notts County. Was this doubt lurking in the back of my mind as I watched her ploughing through the last length of her two Gold medal races at the Olympics?
Course not, both are irrelevant.
If Murray has a small minded dislike of the England football team (and I still don't think the evidence used to hang him on that point is sound), then whilst I'd rather he didn't, I see no reason why it should make me return his small mindedness and hope he loses a tennis match.
