Ranji Season 2008-09 Empty Ranji Season 2008-09

Post by The One Thu 13 Nov 2008, 05:45

seems to have started well for bombay, two outright wins, the last one by an innings to secure a bonus point. a much better start than the last season and we seem to have a good chance of challenging for the trophy. next match against delhi should be crucial. dhaval kulkarni seems to have had a great start to his ranji career

punjab have beaten rajasthan. other second round matches look headed for draws

Isn't this strange? When I saw him in IPL and then for India A and challengers, he looked very very average. Yet he is smashing the domestic batsmen.

This is quite worrying. Apart from this, I can't see any talented seamers coming through.

Delhi has started badly and must be repenting not choosing the bowler who now plays for Railways and did very well in the first round.

TN has started well to.

bombay taking the 1st innings lead against delhi. bizzare match, both innings having just one real partnership. rest of the wickets falling in bangles manner. bombay looking good, but a bit complacent at times

pujara scores another big hundred. cant wait for him to play against the bigger teams in group a

tamil nadu demolishing up. up's fall has been almost as sudden as its rise

And Dravid finally scores a fifty. Still if Uthappa slammed a ton, you can imagine what the attack would have been!

Dravid scores 83 and VVS Legendman scores a double. But then, they've always found it easy in domestics.

How could they get out for just 200 odd on batting paradise?

Dhawal Kulkarni's fairy tale ended as soon as he came to bowl on a flat track. What has happened to Mumbai's bowling and now its batting too? Evil or Very Mad

Like I said in the Pujara thread- A pitch can only be so flat. If the bowling is good enough, they can get wickets on any surface. At least Bombay being dismissed cheaply gives more weight to Pujara's innings.

The Mumbai coach must be eating his words right now.

Looking at the stats, Rahane and Pujara are the two standout batsmen in the tournament so far. Even Dhawan has done a decent job. Rahane though seems to be a lot more consistent.

Yeah great first season for Mukund. Will try to watch a match if one's televised with him playing.

Pujara's season has been a mix of really big knocks or nothing at all. Rahane could well leapfrog him, Badrinath and Vijay, because he is more a no. 3 than the first two.

The moment Rajkot pitch became a bit difficult, Pujara has been faltering. I'm not very happy with his performance in last 2 matches.

Rahane and Dhawan have been playing a different venues and even then they have performed well. And while Delhi fails to qualify for Quaters, all my dreams of watching Ishant bowl to Tendulkar go down the drains too!
