Hmm ... okay, in which case he's excused. He was pi$$ed off when the Superstars won got into the finals of the inaugral IPL torunament. Anyway, pedantically speaking, it seemed like he said Bengal could be the only upset. Hence.

Great result for Saurashtra.
Second consecutive Ranji SF for them.

Chennai seemed to get into the finals because of some intitial good results and then some really good luck. That I didn't really like. And they didn't win the IPL.

Actually TN Ranji team is a very very average team and apart from Vijay, no one deserves even a look for international teams. This I can say after watching the entire QF match and can't tell you how terrible it was!! Bengal team wasn't better at all and apart from Manoj, who still looks a bit unconvincing on some pace bowling, no one else deserves a look.
Such a sad state of domestic cricket when two quarter final teams are this bad!!

Mukund, with his age and stats this season, could be a really good prospect. And TN probably have the best batting line-up in the tournament.

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
I read in newspapers that both teams will get to stay in Taj Malabar in Chennai, courtesy Tendulkar. And for this game teams will get a daily allowance of Rs.1,500/- per day as against regular Rs.600/-.
Why is that?

Tendlya's a total legend either way.
1500 per day. Not bad. If the food's free, technically you'd be quite well off.

RP Singh to miss Ranji semi-final
Wonder what problem this bowler has! He had a fantastic 10 months or so in international cricket and has faded away this badly!!

Would have been interesting to watch the TN batsmen against two bowlers who swing the ball in RP and PK. Oh well..

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
I watched the day one of Mum-Saurashtra match. I just can't say how boring it was! Bowlers bowling at 115ks and batsmen scoring at the SR of 20.
No wonder no one wants to watch these rubbish games!!

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
Rahane especially was painfully slow.
I know Mumbai wants to score atleast 600 in their first dig but that was extremely boring to watch from Rahane. If not for Jaffer's elegant strokeplay, Mumbai would've struggled to reach 200 by stumps.
Especially when you've batsmen like Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Majumdar waiting in the wings.

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
I can sense Chennaites disappointment with Rahane. Sunday crowd came to see Tendulkar's batting and not Rahane's boring tuk tuk.
I myself kept on waiting for a wicket to fall for the whole day so that I could see Tendulkar in action but to no avail.

Incidentally Jaffer and Rahane became 10th and 11th batsmen respectively to score 1000 runs in a Ranji season.
Leader of the list is VVS who scored 1415 runs in 9 matches @ 109 in '99-'00.
