also rahane has been absolutely fantastic for us. scored lots of runs, important runs and made them quickly. 8 scores above 50 in 12 innings and 82 off 57 today in a last day chase. the boy needs to get some international experience quickly, preferably in an 'A' tour. jaffer another titan this season

Ravinder Jadeja was again fantastic, this time with the ball.

Took 7/31 and won that match for his team against despite Hyd needing just 177 runs to win.

BTW, defending champs Delhi is out of reckoning for knockout stages. Without Ishant, Sehwag, and UMB it was always going to be difficult. And that coupled with someone like Chopra at helm.

The all rounder India has been looking for? He's scored a double hundred this season as well.

Apart from that, their bowling has failed miserably this year with Sangwan and Nanda having terrible season this year. They just didn't have a bowler who could pick up wickets. Awana appeared in the later stages but you can't expect much from a greenhorn. I was disappointed at Delhi's lack of talent in bowling, be it pace bowling or spin bowling!

I don't think he is international material as far as bowling goes! But Warne rated him quite highly during IPL.

With MSD doing such a fine job(especially in ODIs) i totally forgot about the fact that IND don't have a decent all rounder.

Yes. It is the same Jadeja. He has had a terrific year in the Ranji this year till now.

From tomorrow the Qusrter-Finals starts:

1st Quarter-Final: Mumbai v Himachal Pradesh at Ahmedabad - Dec 26-29, 2008

2nd Quarter-Final: Saurashtra v Karnataka at Mumbai (BS) - Dec 26-29, 2008

3rd Quarter-Final: Gujarat v Uttar Pradesh at Vadodara - Dec 26-29, 2008

4th Quarter-Final: Tamil Nadu v Bengal at Bangalore - Dec 26-29, 2008

I think Mumbai and TN should win easily. It'll be interesting to see who the the other two will be: Saurashtra or Karnataka, Gujarat or UP ?

No idea about Himachal, but Bengal have a decent team. I'll be supporting Saurashtra in the 2nd QF.

Which game is being televised by neo?

hp was 85/5 at lunch vs bombay. dhawal continuing where he left off with 2 wickets and nayar with 3

other lunch time scores

up 90/1 vs gujarat
karnataka 86/2 vs saurashtra with dravid still to bat

the only game being shown live on neo is bengal vs tn. tiwary is 110* in a score of 250/4 for bengal. potential upset

he's still young. got injured at the wrong time. debut was a bit worrying and got upstaged by sharma in australia. his time will come again if he keeps piling on the runs. bengal was in the lower division this season so he was probably out of the limelight and he has also had a poor season. next year could be his chance

Tiwary had a crappy season at the plate league. Maybe it's a good thing, but he does seem to give his game a boost for the 'bigger' matches.

Today I watched the game on TV. Tiwari still seemed a bit unconvincing against the military medium bowlers of TN. How will he face the fast bowlers of the world?

Hope he gives a better performance tomorrow and in other matches.

final day scores

hp 250 a/o. bombay 19/0. good recovery by the lower order, but it still seems quite short of a competitive total

karnataka 265/8. dravid making 26 in 86 and uthappa hitting a century

up 242/6. raina out in the 90s, kaif 2

Mumbai 405/6, Jaffer has a ton and Sharma just missed one by two runs. Should win this easy. Nayar scores 39 to go with his 6 wickets in the 1st innings.

Gujarat have collapsed against UP and Saurashtra aren't looking too good either at 183/9 chasing 305.

The TN-Bengal game is the closest with TN at 188/5 chasing 345.

I'm absolutely gutted to see TN-Bengal match. Apart from Manoj Tiwari, there is nothing else you'd like to watch in this match, no upcoming bowlers, no talented seamers, no batsmen who can be considered international material.

The way Badrinath batted in front of strict medium pacers of Bengal, I think career is finished before it could start. M Vijay lasted for just a few deliveries and after that it was all yawn!!!

Tiwari's fielding is just the bright spot in this match and nothing else.

I really wanted to watch Pujara and Jadeja or Rahane, Rohit and Kulkarni. But silly Neo would choose the most boring and unwatchable match!! Evil or Very Mad

Huh? Mukund, Vijay, KDK, even Dinda and Saha are pretty much a few of the most promising in domestic cricket.

Going by the scores so far, you'd think Neo did the right thing, the only match looking like it will be competitive.

Absolutely rubbish they were I tell you. Can't believe how much Karthik's technique has deteriorated because he was playing almost comically earlier on when Sarkar threatened to run him out on his comical defence of coming out several steps of the crease just to pat the ball back to bowler.

Mukund was equally disappointing and doesn't stand a chance of being looked in for international cricket. And Dinda and Saha? What promise do they have? Did you see Dinda bowling?

Tiwari's fielding is just the bright spot in this match and nothing else.

You don't want to watch domestic ties with an expectation to get to see a thrilling match. You watch it to have look on the fringe players.

Unfortunately, this match has none of them apart from maybe Tiwari.

I can't see any of the matches, no Neo.

Both KDK and Saha are pretty useful WK-bats, Saha is brilliant behind the stumps as well. And this is just the one match Chandan.

Doremi,

Believe me Saha is not all better than any of the butter fingered keepers in the country. Today the way he conceded the bye was really funny. He collected the ball somewhat clumsily and ball hit his knee to go for a 4 to thirdman. Saha batted okay but can never be considered for India unless he improves dramatically.

Dinda was aweful in his bowling but then who wasn't.

But I'm glad than Bengal have taken lead in the first inning because TN's squad is just hopeless---no talent even remotely visible!
