Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
Chandan you really are harsh. Though I agree, the bowlers in this match are a bit embarassing.
As for Saha, in the IPL his keeping was brilliant.

Bengal is already one down after failing to score a run in first 4 overs. Why are these batsmen so afraid of the new ball?

There shouldn't be too much difference in the keeping and general fielding stadards. I really thought he was a good prospect, as a really good keeper and pretty useful batsman.

But he doesn't live up anywhere close to your expectation. Clumsy keeping and aweful batting!

But I'm glad than Bengal have taken lead in the first inning because TN's squad is just hopeless---no talent even remotely visible!
LOL. Mukund? VIJAY? Sure, he failed in this game, but did you watch him bat against Aus?

Yes I did. Didn't find him overly talented like Yuvraj or Rohit or even Raina. He seemed to have a compact technique but only made runs in low 30s. If you are talented enough, you'll score like Duminy who played his first match at Perth and after his team was under immense pressure in second inning, not to underestimate his own pressure after given out wrongly in the first inning.
Sorry. There was not even an iota of that talent on view either in that match or in this match against the rubbish bowling attack of Bengal.
Mukund has a terrible technique. You saw him batting in this match?

Raina-93
Praveen- 5-fer
Tiwary-144
Uthappa-139
Jadeja- 5-fer

Some Ganapathy of TN-5fer (though the bowler is really poor)

Parthiv Patel (in batting)
Dinesh Karthik( in batting)
Dinda

He looked as good as Raina has ever looked in an India shirt during those two stints against the Aussies. I don't know Chandan, he looked pretty talented. Not every great batsman has a great debut, and a great debut doesn't always equate to a great talent/player.
BTW, Sarkar is crappy and have no idea about Kundu, but I'd have thought Ranadeb Bose and Ashoke Dinda is not entirely rubbish, not by domestic standards.

So it looks like Mumbai, Karnataka and UP are certainties for the SF. Bengal hold a slight edge over TN and could be the only upset.

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
Astonishingly, it is Saurashtra which defeated Karnatake by scoring 317/3 today and chased the target of 327 in the 4th inning for the loss of 5 wickets.
Pujara has hit a fine unbeaten ton. Wonder how great that knock is, since the ball was turning, spitting and jumping from the very first day!!
TN also made to the semis as they wiped out the final 6 wickets of Bengal quickly this morning and chased down 227 runs with ease as Badri played a good unbeaten knock in 90s.
UP was another semifinalist, which knocked Gujarat out on the basis of the first inning lead.
Finally Mumbai was the team which had secured a 9 wicket win vs HP in the first session itself!
Semi-final line up:
Mumbai Vs Saurashtra
TN Vs UP
Should be interesting!

pujara is firmly in the selector's spotlight as well now. one more good performance against a strong bombay attack and he should be a good chance for the squad to new zealand

Re: Ranji Season 2008-09
Hope Neo cricket chooses to show the Bombay-Saurashtra match this time. I want to see how Pujara fares against a good pace attack of Zaheer, Agarkar and Kulkarni. I also want to see how Kulkarni bowls against good batsman.
Hopefully Pujara will last long enough to show us both!

Wasn't in front of a computer for the whole day and was really surprised by the Saurashtra result. Pujara really doing his chances no harm.
You'd think the Sachin carrot would decide Neo's next match.
Bengal, weirdly, had their two openers at no. 7 and 8 for the 2nd innings, coming after their offie.
