Arranged but not forced.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... don't get me wrong, blaming 'the West' for things is great and all. But Asian countries have always had prostitutes... it's not a new phenomenon that 'capitalism' has brought. But don't let facts get in the way of a good zealot diatribe.
Next we'll be hearing that Imperialism is a western thing too...

You never say 'never'. But it is the proportion. Any population has its fair share of rotten turds, some have more than the fair share.

Of course, the west doesn't have anything as honourable as an 'honour killing'

That's mostly a rural Pakistani thing, covered up in UK under the all-encompassing gamut of 'Asian' culture.

**Makes a note **
Beating the crap out of a 14 y o girl or spiriting her away from her family because she refuses to accept an "arranged" marriage is not considered "forcing".
OK...got it now.

On this suttee word, the amount of psy-ops that have been launched are tremendous. It first came into being when certain sections of North India used to encourage their womenfolk to jump into the fire when they were overrun by Central Asian turkic and turko-mongol Islamic invaders rather than being raped by them.

I know that, I used the word 'mostly'. It is prevalent in certain parts of North India bordering Pakistan like the states mentioned in that article.

And in many parts of the East before the Empire, sex wasn't something that was frowned upon. Does Kamasutra ring any bells ?
So what? Your whole point is some 'superior morality' spin on a load of nothing. Prostitutes get paid to have sex. There is no juxtaposition between ones from the East and ones from the West.

Re: Interesting article thread (non cricket related).
It's pretty mad:
Prostitutes in the East: Society was OK with them, now it's Western capitalism that makes them.
Suttee: Turk's fault.
Honour Killings: Oh, it is in India as well, but only up where the nasty Pakistanis have an influence.
Poor little India.

The point was that ... in the East the prostitutes already had social acceptance, they were not insecure and neither in need of any direction. What is happening in the west is that school-going girls are being pushed by media psy-ops into doing stuff to gain acceptance, and they are losing their self-respect and traditional values. they do not have a family and end up rudderless.
This will result in breakdown of the entire western society within a single generation. This is the biggest psy-ops in western history. What will replace this broken society and will provide the alternative support structure has not yet been disclosed.

Ah, OK.
Well, sex is good. Feels good. You'll have to trust me on this. Maybe, just maybe, they want to do it for themselves and not because of the 'psy-ops'?

JKLever wrote:And the dowry killings?
It's widespread in India. The society there has gone mad and are silently conspiring against the girl child.

pro-truth.
In 2012, according to the Maya Calender, the world is going to change and we will have 5000 years of peace and riddance from all this evil. This has alternatively been called Satya-Yuga/the age of truth, we need to wait for time to take its own course to cleanse the world while being on our guard all the while.

And when might this be on our calendar?
