This'll have Lara spraying his shorts...

Jonathan Clare gets called up to spend some time at Dennis Lillee's fast bowling clinic, along with "five of the brightest young fast-bowlers in the land."
However, I've no idea who the other five bright things are as they appear to be too bright to even appear in print on a page. Probably burned right through it.
At a guess, Woakes, Jordan, Chambers, Finn and, oh I don't know, let's say Footitt just because he's been in the news recently too having signed a new contract with Notts.

I'm sure he'll be fit next season...

Oh, there we go, I've found the "super six": http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/england/elite-player-development/florida,303259,EN.html
Clare
Chambers (yay me)
Jordan (yay me)
Woakes (yay me)
Jade Dernbach (Oh, sweet Jesus...)
Mark Turner (Meh)
Incidently, of the six "brightest young fast bowlers in the land" two are West Indian and one is South African.
Awfully nice of the ECB to keep investing money in Chris Jordan. I'm sure the Windies will be thankful when he pledges his future to them at the end of 2010...
Not that any of this will make any difference as it looks like Kevin Shine is involved in some way, which is a guarantee that none of them will make it as international bowlers.

Psshht.... Lillee once called Sajid Mahmood one of the best young prospects he'd ever seen.

The top 4 all have potential, but fook me Dernbach & Turner?
This is the turner that makes Steve Harmisons line look like Shaun Pollocks?

"Mark Turner at Somerset is a 90mph bowler and can lift very heavy weights. He will be the strongest on this programme. When you talk to Justin Langer and Andy Hurry Somerset Coach], they think he's an explosion waiting to happen." (K. Shite)
Sounds like another case of "an Aussie said he was good, therefore we've now set aside all other opinions and have come to the conclusion that he's the saviour of English cricket and mankind as we know it."
An explosion waiting to happen, FFS. What is he, a suicide bomber?

I think he was right, for what it's worth.

A young, tall fast bowler who can swing the ball late both ways at 90mph - yeah, what was he thinking?
I'm afraid Mahmood's rather slow (non-existent?) development from talented prospect to champion cricketer is the rule rather than the exception as far as English cricket is concerned.
See also: pretty much everyone.

Raw talent maybe.
his cricket brain is non-existant though...

Re: This'll have Lara spraying his shorts...
Anyone remember the "Find a Fast Bowler" competition that Ted Dexter used to front?
Simon Dennis won it one year - and what a mighty career he had (not) I think he ended up at Glamorgan like most knackered useless bowlers do.

Prescient! ... though Jordan may still have a future.

TBF, we all knew Shine was a grass chewing, cuckoo for cocoa puffs 'beautiful mind' since around 2006.
