Is Monty Panesar a bit thick? Empty Is Monty Panesar a bit thick?

Post by Henry Mon 15 Dec 2008, 06:48

He always struck me as being a quiet, intelligent sort of guy, but the way he appeals for LBW's when the ball has pitched 2 feet outside leg stump, and the fact that he didn't know that he'd caught Laxman in the first innings suggests that there's a few brain cells missing.

Also, his bowling hasn't improved since his debut(if anything it's regressed) and his batting has gone nowhere. Only his fielding would appear to have improved since his test debut almost 3 years ago.

No, it suggests he's a cheat. He's been doing that for years.

I thought this article from The Guardian was interesting.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/nov/24/india-england-tour-diary

Particularly this bit . . .

Panesar, incidentally, while not required by England, has spent some of
his free time recently working with his girlfriend behind the counter
of a London chemist. At least we can safely assume that he has had time
to stock up on the Immodium tablets.

Donkeys and declaration slogs keep boosting his figures whilst his effective contribution is terrible. I think he should just go and rot in county cricket . . . or go and work in a chemist.

Bit like Warne then.

What gets on my moobs is his run, skip & hop when he hasn't even appealed to the umpire.

An appropriate English reaction to the match. Still ... Strauss and Swann, there's some positives there.

How quickly Test matches can swing. Weren't there some gloating here only a day or so back that England's tour of India was 'already' better than Australia's?

... chicken recount

Nope. That was planetpakman dragging that thread up. And some of us pointed out that the minute Aus lost the series 2-0, England had a better chance of beating India.
