WhoTF was the high pitched nasal-ised stadium announcer at the Gabba tonight FFS ?
Seriously, I had to turn the volume off (not just down) whenever he made an announcement ... which was too bloody often !
Do all Q'billies sound like that?
PS - Agree - this match WAS boring as batshit.
No doubting this form of cricket is definitely a subi game ... both teams tonight looked about as comfortable as fish out of water.

Noticed on the news this morning some idiot had a laser pointer in the crowd and was shining it on the field when the Saffies were in the field.

Why didn't they just use their cameras? :?:

a remarkably astute post from Merls...yes most Billies sound alike (the sheilas are the ones with deep voices)...both genders ram all words through their left nostril, giving that distinct nasal twang...the one exception in the whole of Chipland is Rockhampton where all words are rammed through the right nostril...the rest of the Billies tease the Rockvegans because they sound like hoighty toighty toffs

Always horrie, always ....
Heralding the demise of MPV 4 months before it occured is proof enough, wouldn't you agree?

As an Aussie, I'd have expected that.
I, on the other hand was ridiculed as the traitor - but I nevertheless rejoiced at the appropriate time !!

Merls - you really need to concentrate your awesome powers on leading the "Bell for Pomgolian Captain" campaign...it is time England was lead by the one player who expresses that pure quality of being Pomgolian...p'haps you could also support Mudge for coach - or masseur

Must be nice living in your fantasy world. Well, not nice, as you'd be there.
Plenty of people called time on Vaughan's Test career before you. Mostly, the breaking point for them was when, after England had lost the Ashes 5-0, he comically announced his disappointment that he wasn't called into the squad to act as non-playing captain - reckoned the result could've been so different.
He'd become laughably self-important and delusional. If he was a Flaming Bails forumer, he'd be called Merlin.
Then he waltzed straight back into the England XI - and back into the captaincy - without having to prove himself worthy of a place in the slightest after two years out through injury, had a pathetically bad World Cup; his supposedly amazing captaincy - so good that he can win Test matches from his death bed, apparently - being unable to rustle up a win against a single non-minnow. Handed back his ODI captaincy at the end of the debacle, unable to justify his selection as a player or a captain as the last rites were read on the Fletcher era.
His number was up. Early 2007. Everyone knew it. Except you. No-one was ridiculed for saying it. Except you, as you hopped on the bandwagon a year too late, called it "The Merlin Express" and claimed to be some kind of radical thinker.

Blimey - you stayed up till 2:30 AM this morning compiling that load of tosh!
You must have been desperate!
Yep, undoubtedly forum gold .... but absolute bollocks, and Dellboy, you bloody know it!
Noticed that you have both memory lapses and selective limited recall when it suits you - most convenient !
Ridicule all you want - it does make fun reading and it lobs out a few cheap giggles .. but the fact remains that
yours, amongst a few others, was the loudest voice to criticise at the time I kicked off on Vorn ... back in the C4 days.
....how we couldn't turn our backs on England's best ever captain and batsman; 2005 hero; the dogs-bollocks ; who else was there to replace him; your list was endless.
It's a damn shame C4 have self destructed as their old threads with your Vawn glorifications on them would make interesting reading and would wipe the smugness off your face.
I even recall being banned for a short time off C4 for having gone OTT on Vawn, slipping in a few choice names which the Mods there viewed as an offence ... happy days!
Plenty of people called time on Vaughan's Test career before you - okay, name one at the time (perhaps Chas was the exception).
Bugger me, there are some on here (until very recently anyway) still joined to his hip FFS.
Your comment that "everyone knew" in early 2007 is priceless ... a bit of memory fade there Dellie?
No recall from you warning that the triumphant 2005 hero captain of had nothing to do with 'Ashes 06/7' so to leave him alone / stupid to criticize him / his presence and leadership was sorely missed / he shall return.....just stating facts here Del, no attempt at sarcasm nor ridicule nor to get cheap laughs - only facts as expressed by, amongst others, you!
No bandwagon either ... no need for one. After all, we all on here have opinions.
Yours on Vawns changed dramatically after the WC ... up until then, along with others, he could do no wrong.
But hindsight is a wonderful gift hey Dell, and clearly you have bucket-loads on this particular topic!
But there's nodenying, apart from the fact that your content was bullshit, the compiling was amusing and the delivery forum gold - well done!
Cheers

Anyhoo...
can anyone explain how Ryan Harris is in the JAMODI squad and Hopes and Ranga aren't?

Actually, Hopes is in the squad but not the incumbent test all rounder.

Harris is only in because he's replacing Siddle. They probably thought they had enough all-round options given what the Husseys might offer with the ball, Clarke if he's fit, Hopes.

Yeah but he's shit. If you want a bowler what about Magoffin, Dorey, Bolly, Nannes, Bird, Harwood etc.
