At least 26 people confirmed dead in Victoria in the devastating bushfires which accompanied yesterday's record temperatures.

Might be a snow boost for him tonight, according to some forecasts.

When you can finally give me an answer about how "putting on more clothes" and "sucking it up" is going to help Londoners get to work when the trains and buses are completely out of action, then we'll talk about whose brain is charging better.

He's a bit thinner than he was and his head is at a rather scary angle.

No snow in London forecast this week. Sleeted a bit on Friday, but I put on my Akubra.

Re: Weather comes in from Siberia
Had another rather damp 'dusting' here in Notts a couple of hours ago.
Said to the Bread Knife that it was probably too wet to cause too many problems, and it's either turned to sleet/rain or is now sufficiently warm / less cold for it to melt as that little lot appears to have just about disappeared already, thank goodness...got a three hour drive to look forward to in the morning.
Sounds like Monday night into Tuesday morning is the next problemette on the horizon. Certain forecasters predicting armageddon already - suspect it might be one of those this time that's an arse coverer as they are not absolutely certain whether it will hit as rain or the white stuff...but are privately expecting the former.

Cheers - and yes, central heating going like the clappers.
Not looking forward to the next gas bill!

Put the gas bill in the envelope for payment to the electric company, and the electricity bill in the envelope for payment to the gas company.
It'll confuse the buggers, and then you can probably buy yourself some extra time to pay it.
Or, if you're really lucky, they'll pay each other and you'll get free power.

Has anyone got any snow left where they are? Any of those snowmen still intact?
It's all pretty much gone here now.

Good job too as if we get it really bad here they have to close this road because the U-bend is farkin horrible to negotiate in Icy conditions. Just about where that U-bend is located is actually a far bigger drop than it looks on this pic and it actually climbs a lot from left to right.
The real bastard is that this is the only road for about 70 miles so getting snowed in is deffo a possibility.

About 75 miles north of Inverness, place called Berriedale Brae. If any barsteward from the North wants to get down to Inverness they have to negotiate that - hate it in the winter.

Re: Weather comes in from Siberia
The current standard of snow ball throwing by youngsters has been shown up this winter to be pretty damn poor and not what it once was.
Whilst walking the other day I had some young scoundrels throw a couple at me, and they missed badly. There really was no excuse for such a miss from so close. So I turned and gave them the stare that says "don't try that again son" and walked on smiling to myself.
