He'll be back. Despite his complete and utter mentally weak displays recently, he's too young and too talented to never play for England again.

Tell him in no uncertain terms why he has been dropped from the test team, and tell him that he needs to make a shit load of runs in County Cricket, often on lively pitches and under pressure, before he is considered again for England selection.

Sage - he deserves an extended run through the Ashes series at least.

And there is the tour to SA coming up. He should thrive in our conditions.

In fact, I'm stuggling to see a downside from anyone's perspective. England get to nurture a rare talent, the rest of us get to assist in that process.

He should have to do a Ramprakash and make back-to-back 100-average seasons (and perhaps even win a reality TV show as well) before he's considered again.

Didn't work for Ramps.

Well he was considered. He just wasn't picked.

Achieving that while still aged the right side of 35 might help...

He'll play in the second Test.

Andy Flower is in his corner - and he was saying on yesterday that there would be no knee-jerk reactions regarding selection.

Geoff Miller, I believe, is the other selector out there (along with Flower and Andrew Strauss), and he - according to Derek Pringle last week - backed Bell's continued selection as he had been "brilliant in the nets". I shit you not.

He'll play.

Methinks Flower is talking himself out of the running for job as permanent coach, as well as out of his @rse.

There has to be a breaking point with Bell surely?

Obviously it's going to be when an England player reveals Bell has indecent snaps of Dusty Miller and has been bribing him for 12 months.

If Bell doesn't get dropped, I'm turning the TV off and going on a picnic for the three days the Test lasts. And I might burn a few effigies. Better than watching that qunt bat.

That's a thought.

Not necessarily about Miller.

But could, say, a set of Roebuck photos or a mobile phone with a bookie at the other end of the line be thrust into IRB's hand at an opportune camera-friendly moment?

I'd prefer to thrust one of those brand new Adidas bats he uses smack bang into the middle of his face to be honest. He wouldn't play due to injury which is just as good!!
