I've been saying this for the best part of a year but Big Dog will have you believe there's a mystical 5mph of pace that he's saving for his inevitable, glorious, Australian debut.

Re: Butterworth
He's pants. If he showed ANY sign that he was capable of doing well in international cricket, Australia would have picked him already.
He would have been a shoe in for an England side of the 90s.

Re: Butterworth
Aussies? They're all sh!t nowadays. Aussies are yesterday's news, it's all about getting yourself an Indian now. They used to make tough cricketers in Australia, now they're producing these generic wussy athletic Ian Bell type cricketers. Look at Shaun Tait. All the heart of 0.5 Ian Bells.

Re: Butterworth
Will no doubt take him a while to adjust to the marshmallo featherbeds you call wickets over there but he'll come good.
In any case, he's not a one day bowler. Rarely bowls for Tassie in limited over games.

Re: Butterworth
A future champion, all you sneerers.
Swings the ball both ways, can bowl at 85, and bats well.

Not really. He is being used in a format he is not suited to & on wickets he is not used to & even then his economy rate is about the same as the other Scottish bowlers.
Re: Butterworth
I still feel his batting is even more promising than his bowling. His temperament and shot selection are the real features of his play.

I saw him. He didn't look out of place amongst the gashlords that are Scotland. He fitted right in.

Aye, I'm not condemning him forever, just saying that he was positively shitweasel-esque on Monday.
Re: Butterworth
It's a strange gig, this county cricket. You can have blokes like Law, Moody, and Di Venuto making runs for years, whereas Greg Chappell (as I recall) really struggled (apart from his leg spin).
Early form on strange wickets is no real guide to a player's quality. How he adapts to them will be interesting.

Re: Butterworth
Well, you're right, the poor qunt's probably still thawing out too. It's how people adapt, but I suppose I'm used to an Aussie being half-decent from the off. It's no mean feat to top the SheffShee wickets list.
