"Roy was a maverick who went and lost his danged gunbelt once too often."
It was the selection of him not the non-selection that was the problem

Just for horrie. The first man picked has got to be the revitalised Bung.

Certs so far (IMHO):
Bats
PontingKatichwill lose cred during current tour and hopefully will not be selected.
Hussey
Clarke
Hughes
Watson FFS because it means they can take two spinners
jaques (a dubber)
North
Bowlers
Johnson
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
Clark
McGain
Hauritz (but it should be Krazy)
Keepers
Haddin
Wade/Hartley (whoever is the better keeper)
Still plenty of places up for grabs...
F-f-fark off. Watson is gawn and should never, ever be considered again.
hartley should go - too early for Wade
I think they will take a couple of kids on tour too - possibly Reeks and Koala111/twiggy/fergie

even despite his central role in handing over the ashes in 05??...are you seriously suggesting his technique and ability is sufficiently robust against bowlers able to swinhg/cut the ball??...if yes to these questions - can I ask whether you are English?

Ain't.gonna.happen.h.
And I will PMSL if Bung is selected for the Ashes (which I don't believe he should be) because I know how much you will support that option.

It had slipped from my mind that he played test cricket until you brought him back up. What is with useless vomit allrounder hacks who can't do half a job with one dicsipline?

Got a good ball in each innings. It can happen as an opener.horace wrote:S...so you thought the S-C looked competent in this match?
Bit stiff, given that he got an unplayable from the demented Ostrich Morkel.
Fleas and everyone else in the side is certainly more credible than that imposter Ronnie the Ranga.

Average but wozzies will tell that is because the WACA has been a bit more bowler friendly this year.
Chris Rogers has averaged 70 odd and might be the next top order bat in line

They may not choose a second keeper at all, but simply have one (Paine, Hartley, Wade, or the dreaded Manou) on standby in County Cricket for the duration of the tour. I don't think even the size of the squad has been absolutely settled at this stage.

Nothing to do with the WACA ...it was going to Banindia to watch how to make Gatorade rather than playing some cricket that has caused him to have an average season ...played OK in the JAMODIs (probably a little behind the batting S/R needed)

Re: Aussie Ashes Squad
New South Wales name David Warner to replace Phil Jaques in Shield
(....and picks up his baggy green at the same time)
March 04, 2009 David Warner will make his first-class debut for New South Wales after being called in to the side as an injury replacement for Phil Jaques.
Blues and Australia opening batsman Jaques was forced out of the Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the SCG because of back soreness.
Cricket NSW said that Warner would bat in the middle order and Ed Cowan would move into the opener's position.
Warner became only the third player to represent Australia before playing a first-class game when he made a sensational international debut against South Africa in the Twenty20 game at the MCG in January.
He was subsequently included in Australia's one-day team for the series against South Africa, but he was dropped after failing to have the same impact in the early matches.
His selection for NSW in a Sheffield Shield match comes amid speculation that he could be lost to the state because he'd been unable to secure a spot in the four-day team.
