Mad Cow disease? I suspect that would've led them to pick players like Beefy.
Tijuana Gold? Strong possibilty, it helps explain the complete lack of logic.
A suitcase full of unmarked $50 notes . . . ? John the Bookie wasn't seen in Jolimont recently, was he?
I suspect Mad Cow diesase may be the favourite. Disappointing that Australia is on the search for the new Botham...

Any chance Lee has broken an ankle or even got a headache in the last few hours or so?

I don't get what's wrong with having Bung there. He carried your attack for a bit. When he got totally flogged he became shitter again, but still, thinking about his long lay off, minus the rust, he may be back in full swing.

Spoken like a true Pom. He was in full swing for about seven tests at the start of his career and even then he was over-hyped.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a bag of gash (against England) but after the '05 series, it's undeniable that he put in quite a few big performances.

Fark, the IPL batting line ups read like a bunch of shelf-packers at the local Kwikee-Mart. I've never heard of most of these qunts.

Aye - I said a similar thing yesterday. And it's not as if the top 6 selected don't have issues - Hughes and North are playing their 4th tests and Hussey has forgotten how to bat. At the moment, Watto is next cab of the rank which is a farking disgrace - I'd seriously prefer Podge.

I'd disagree. Against pace, we're not bad at all.

Seems the NSP think that the bowling is the Aussies weak point, when in fact at present its definitely your batting.

As an Englishman, got to be happy with that squad, especially if a batter is in poor nick, you've no spare batter.

Surely we can get rid of Manure & give his place to Gilly. At the moment he is 74 not out off 25 balls in the IPL Semi.

But Gilly was struggling with the gloves before he signed off and also struggled in his farewell ODI series against the Indians. He and Hayden seem to have reversed the form that saw them hang up the boots while a lot of players in the IPL who have recently performed very well in tests etc. have had their reputations diminished.

So one is left to ponder how reliable it is as a barometer of form on the international stage.

And while it's a great hitting feat from Gilly, the attack boasted modest credentials. Of those who have represented their countries there was the modest and occasional representative in Nehra, the spare parts Sehwag and Mishra at fifth change.

I'd still have Gilly over either of the incumbents, any day. Better keeper than either of them, better batsman than either of them, even in his dotage.

Except Gilly struggled during the last Ashes series in England with their bowlers attacking him around the stumps and the ball swinging. It will be a bit different to domestic Indian pie chuckers bowling some full tosses in the shortened form of the game.
