PCB to sue Rudi
Apparently it was just reported on NDTV. That will be a laugh as well, because will have to prove they aren't cheats . . .

Joisus. Bet Rudi hates fatso. TBH it was a private conversation, which is wrong in ways to sue someone for but can see why they wouldn't like it at all.
Re: PCB to sue Rudi
Can you sue people on hearsay.
Jeez, we are all in the dung if they ever read this forum.

Re: PCB to sue Rudi
So if they're now going to sue him, I take it they're also going to object to him standing in any of their matches?
This is getting ridiculous.

The irony of course is that Pakistan wanted neutral umpires.

But they didn't expect them to be honest . . . how would they after the actions of the home-grown variety.

This doesn't sound right - how can you sue someone for calling you a cheat in private?

PCB preparing for action against Koertzen's remarks
The PCB has asked its legal advisors to find out if South African umpire Rudi Koertzen had breached any International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct by allegedly describing the Pakistani players as "cheats."
Chairman of the board Dr Nasim Ashraf is in London to discuss the issue with the ICC and confirm if Koertzen had indeed made such remarks about the Pakistani cricketers.
Australian umpire Darrell Hair, who is fighting a legal battle with the ICC at a central employment tribunal in London over his reinstatement for Test and international matches, has said at the hearing that Koertzen in a telephone conversation called the Pakistanis cheats.
Hair claimed that Koertzen had in March expressed his pleasure at Pakistan being knocked out of the World Cup after losing to Ireland.
Hair has said that Koertzen after exchanging pleasantries on the phone said, "That's great news, those cheats can now go home."
The call was made on the phone of Doug Cowie, the umpires manager of the ICC.
A senior official of the PCB said that Ashraf had gone to London for the tribunal proceedings and to talk to the ICC and related people to find out about the statement made by Hair about Koertzen.
"This matter has been taken up very seriously by the Chairman who will discuss it with the ICC in London and is already finding out the truth with other relevant quarters," Shafqat Naghmi, the chief operating officer of the board said.

Re: PCB to sue Rudi
If he said 'Yep, I said it', how many of the Pakistan team would have to be cheats?
Could you construe, and this is a genuine question, Asif - drugs, Shoaib - drugs, Malik - chucking, Shabbir - chucking and Afridi - pitch tampering, as cheats?
Definitely Afridi as he got done for it, but is chucking cheating or just the misfortune of bad coaching? Of course, Shoaib and Asif have that pathetic 'ignorance' defence.
If it's all 5, is that a big enough proportion to be 'OK' with that label? Probably not.
Probably if it was 100 of them, it's still not allowed.

Re: PCB to sue Rudi
As i said he'll just use the 'what me?' defence
Will be interesting to see if he ever umpires a Pak game again.
He's a shocking umpire anyway it has to be said

Yeah JuhKuhLuh, but I'm just asking would he have a defence if he did say 'Yep. Said it.'?
Re: PCB to sue Rudi
He'd have a defence against slandering the PAK team in a court of law because of the reasons above I reckon.

Rob Bailey, Neil Mallender, Peter Willey and George Sharp.
Re: PCB to sue Rudi
Of the elite panel?
All umpires make mistakes but I reckon Aleem Dar & Simon Taufel are a cut above the rest.
Asad Rauf is decent too.

He is as bad as anyone, if not more.Asad Rauf is decent too.
Don't think you saw Ind-SA test series. He was in the league of Ashocker in that series. And that says something.

Re: PCB to sue Rudi
I thought Big D had done the wrong thing by quoting Rudi. I can't imagine that the Saffie would have given Hair approval to use the quote, so I'm guessing he didn't ask Rudi. Koertzen must be pretty p!ssed that he has been dragged into this mess.

You can translate it into whatever you want, but the fact is SA too was at the receiving end during that series."He gave too many Indians out"
Or in other words, he was simply incompetent during that series.

ANyway, it seems that it isn't a legal action - just the PCB trying to get him off the ICC panel.
