Heaven XI v Earth XI
OK, I'm trying to procrastinate having to do my last 2 years tax returns but here is one we haven't done for a while:
Heaven XI (for a Test match)
Hobbs
Hutton
Bradman
Headley
Hammond
Trumper/ Ranji (I wanted to include a Golden Age batsman)
Oldfield
Marshall
Lindwall/ Trueman/ Larwood/ Turner/ Richardson etc (there's probably no obvious choice for the second quick)
Barnes
O'Reilly
Not really sure what to do with WG, Miller and a few others.
Anyone want to have a crack at the Earth XI?

I haven't seen this done before. I will give it a shot in between trying to choose which bank is going to give me the best home loan deal.

Don't you work for a bank?
Anyway, they're all about the same so I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about it. Maybe pick the one that gives the best link to a fee free savings account or an offset account.
I saw some rates the other day in the low 5s. Amazing.

Greenidge
Hayden
Ponting
SRT
BCL
G Pollock
Gilchrist
Kapil Dev
Warne
Akram
McGrath
First XI that came to mind.
Ask me again in ten minutes, I'd probably come up with three or four different players.

I work for an merchant bank not a retail bank. So I can't get any employee deals.
Thanks for the home loan tips too.

So why was the pre-Euro Irish currency called the Punt?
Because they wanted it to rhyme with banker.
Because they wanted it to rhyme with banker.

Most banks (incl AMP) will have a "Professionals" deal which is really them selling loans directly to prima facie good credit (eg you are a member of a professional body or you work for a fin institution) and discounting their rate by the trail commission they would otherwise have to pay to a mortgage broker.

I think he may have this just right. Maybe Sobers for Border but Border has the street cred in tough situations.

Stick him in for Pollock. Every team needs an AB.

Fraid so! I'm still traumatised over Adelaide. The guy was a farking metronome and his action was prbably better in a tight situation. Him and McGrath operating from either end would have been awesome to watch.

Actually I'd have Viv in before either BCL or SRT.

Just about spot on IMO. Only change for me would be an all-rounder at 6 - either Faulkner or Noble. Maybe Miller if we count Barnes as a spinner.
Trueman wold be my second quick but I agree there are lots of others in the same class.
Hobbs was at his best in the golden age so he adequately represents that era.

Mine would be:
Gavaskar
Richards
Lara
Tendulkar
Sobers
Imran
Knott
Wasim/Hadlee/Lillee/Ambrose
Warne
Holding
Murali
This is harder than the Heaven XI.
Weekes, Pollock, Viv Richards and Ponting all have strong challenges.
Bob Taylor is the best living keeper but only slightly ahead of Knott.
Alan Davidson is also unlucky to miss out.

IMO you can only take one of Murali or Warne
There is no way Holding is better than Wasim/Hadlee/Lillee/Ambrose

The greatest off spinner ever and one of the two greatest leg spinners ever, bowling in tandem. Watching these guys bowl to Hobbs and Hutton (especially on a sticky) would be the best bit of this match.
I can see the point regarding Holding but no fast bowler can have been better to watch. Holding and Marshall bowling to Bradman would be very interesing.
Maybe it should be any two from Holding/Wasim/Hadlee/Lillee/Ambrose.
