Bud Tingwell was all class. That's what he'll be remembered for most of all.

And what a wonderful voice he had. I could listen to him read the phone book all day.

And let's not forget his service as a spitfire pilot in WWII either.

Blimey, he must have been a good age. He'll be mainly remembered over here for playing the harassed policeman in the Miss Marple films with Margaret Rutherford.

Vale. I last saw him in John Doyle's Changi, an interesting series with wonderful acting from Tingwell and other senior Australian actors ... all probably largely unknown to overseas forumers.

There can't be many Spitfire pilots left.

He was 86. He finally succumbed to prostate cancer after a long battle.
