Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
It basically hasn’t stopped raining all month. Even given that October probably is typically one of our wettest months, it’s outperformed expectations...

Probably the only word that fit the melody at that particular point in the score.

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
Just back from a 2.5 week trip to Blighty.
Had a good time with the youngest sprog, whose teaching career is going great down Essex way.
Also visited an old mate over Birmingham way. He took me up to the Lakes District, which was excellent. Also dropped into Blackpool on the way back.
Now let the Test Cricket begin.

Re: Jesus, this place is dead...
On another site I now participate on there has been a couple of recent spectacular flounces.
More seriously, a number of formerly prolific posters have quietly disappeared from view.
It made me think of our own little forum and diminished numbers and wondering (again) why this is the case?
The hard core of our mob remain. For me this place and I guess some of you, FB is like comfortable old slippers. Yes, they are a bit busted up and shabby, but it is impossible to toss them out.
Here is my summation:
* The Real is always there and has priority. Folk's life circ's change. They have kids, divorces, deaths, jobs gained and lost, fall ill themselves.
* Folk get bored with their own schtick or that of others and find alternatives (there are heaps of cricket sites) inc the sm worlds of Faceache and Twatter.
* Cricket itself is on the nose
* Worryingly recruits would appear, post a couple of times in different threads and then disappear, presumably because they decided it was not for them.
* Some great posters left because of intractable head butting or because they responded adversely to real or perceived attacks on them (cue litany of flounces)
I know I post less than I did, but most days I will check into the site. I still enjoy the interplay between folk with different positions. If the site descended to crickets, I'd still check in hoping for folk to return.
Maybe we are in the tail end of the Forum. I hope this is not the case.

All good things must come to an end eventually, but I think there is still life in this old dog (now 12 years old).
I intend to be here until the lights are turned off.

No posts from Skully for 38 hours and counting. Hope the young fella has not popped his cogs and flicked the lights out.

Nah, alive and kicking, h.
Was out at the lady's rural getaway on the weekend, which has been somewhat under seige from all the fires. No firefighting required by us, but it's great to know the firies are keeping on top of things in the area.

Not bad thanks. Still on antibiotics. Pretty much pain free though and can walk around without a stick, unless I am in crowds or on sloping ground. It is more just a confidence thing.
