Aye, good call.
Wasn't considering anything from outside of the Injun sub-continent, but would rank Rendang above the lot if I was.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system, the noodle dishes, rice and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Pure vegeterian. No meat and eggs and also no drinking beer/alchohol and no smoking as well. I go all the way in my specific vegeterian eating and living habits.
This explains a lot.

probably healthy, but sounds really boring. if you have never had any of the above you have no idea how much you are missing from life

Someone once told me the sum of all vices always remained constant. You don't drink or eat meat. You must have a lot of catching up to do in the remaining vice, Batman.Batman wrote:The One wrote:no meat?

After I got to Mumbai I was taught an extraordinary breakfast dish - Akuri (I believe elsewhere its called Burji or something similiar). Must say, eaten on toast, it's simply out of this world.

Re: Your favourite Indian dish (meal)
akuri is the parsi version of bhurji, therefore a quintessentially bombay dish. gotta love the irani restaurants as well. sadly most of these gems are dying out with their owners

Re: Your favourite Indian dish (meal)
Isn't Akuri eaten for breakfast by a lot of people in Mumbai? I thought it was more a universal dish. The person who first took me to an Irani restaurant (there you are right) wasn't a Parsi. Why do you say Irani restaurants are dying out?The One wrote:akuri is the parsi version of bhurji, therefore a quintessentially bombay dish. gotta love the irani restaurants as well. sadly most of these gems are dying out with their owners

No it doesn't. The same holds true reversely for quite a few w@nks here without naming anyone specifically!

Batty you remind me of the man who went to his doctor and asked if he gave up drinking, smoking and chasing loose women, would he live to a 100.
After due consideration the doctor replied that he couldn't guarantee that he would live to a 100, but that it would as sure as hell, feel like it.

Re: Your favourite Indian dish (meal)
akuri is eaten by many, but originated amongst parsis. much like many in bombay eat idlis
many irani joints have closed down or are in the process of closing down. even the much beloved britannia is on its way out, will last only as long as the present owner does. rumours surround kiyani's as well. the next generation of iranis is not interested in running these places, sadly. dont blame them though
