How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
Right, the Ashes are close now and it's time for the realists amongst us to make our Ashes predictions. There can be absolutely no doubt that England will lose because they are a bunch of whining, bottle-less, talentless little children with hidden agendas who have never been that good and who haven't beaten a good side in a worthwhile contest in four years - they've barely even taken twenty wickets, for goodness' sake. So the question is simple enough - how badly will England lose the upcoming Ashes series?

2-1.
3-1 if it's a dry summer.

Re: How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
3-1 has always been my prediction.
It is the top ranked versus the 5th(?) placed side after all.
I think we can compete, though our batting looks like it'll throw in a collapse in at least one of the tests.
There.
Though I wouldn't be totally shocked if we won or drew the series, Aussies are not at their best against the swinging ball and therefore we will probably always be in most of the games with a shout.
If KP,Fred,Broad & Swann have good series we'll do OK

If Hilf and Rashid get games, then they might have a few Ashes moments this summer.
I reckon it'll be 1-1.

England won't lose.
My call ...
2 - 1 to England.
If it's hot, humid and dusty (playing 2 spinners), then 3 - 1 England.

What if we play Bell, and - through injury to Kev - Vaughany is called up after all to fill his shoes?

Re: How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
I suspect that Johnno and Gump will run through us a couple of times. We're good enough to take a test, though, especially if Bung plays. I think there will be a two high-scoring draws. So I say 1-2 to Australia.

Come on Gus The Grump - you can win big playing misere at cards, but not at our beloved stick-and-ball game.
Get out of your armchair of miserabilism and get a breath of air in your lungs man.

Re: How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
I've been saying 3-1 for the past 18 months, so I'm not going change now.
Although, as it gets closer, I feel like England are a bit more competitive as a side than I've given them credit for, and Australia are a bit more "touchable" than previously thought.
Perhaps a bit tighter - but the Aussies will win the series.

Re: How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
I think Australia's number one ranking flatters them these days, particularly with all the legends of the past decade gone bar Drunky. Then again, you could perhaps say the same about England's ranking of 5 given recent performances.JKLever wrote:3-1 has always been my prediction.

Of course England are much better at home than away and there's a few players on the opposition playing their first Ashes series, so that could help to narrow the gap. I think a gap still exists though, and I'd expect perhaps a 3-1 to Australia like a number of others. Wouldn't rule out a close series if England start well though, or a whitewash if we start badly!

Re: How Badly Will England Lose the Ashes?
Australia just beat South Africa in South Africa. England? Lost their last tour against one of the worst sides in the world and then did what they've been doing for four years - beat the same crap in helpful conditions. The wickets will be flatter and the opposition better this time = annihilation.
If the odds are worth it, you might as well put something on 5-0, 4-0, 4-1, 3-0 and 3-1 to Australia so as not to be too disappointed. Then anything else is an incredible, Jesus-esque miracle bonus.
