This one has a certain enigmatic charm

http://www.cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/27/27171.html

I find it interesting that Railways batted well into the third day of a three day match before declaring and that two different sets of bowlers bowled unchanged during the match.

I asked the question the other night about the FC player getting a King Pair in consecutive deliveries. Skulls seems to have gone AWOL.

I have only attended two limited overs matches at the Gabba.

One was Queensland's first success in a national competition.

The other game also made the headlines. Does anyone know why?

Did that involve an Indian touring team to England?

I think it was some county player playing the Indians around the same time. But I was pretty pasted, but not filled in.

And while we're talking about great scorecards why not try to dig up the game that should've been investigated by an anti-corruption commission.

Surrey v Sussex, early '70s. I think you can download the BEEB's commentary from the Net. I shall go a hunting.

That's the one WW. Still trying to find the radio coverage. I had it once when I posted on the ABC forum. You could hear the Beeb commentator screaming for an inquiry.

As no-one has replied, I will answer this one. That match made headlines because Viv Richards nearly killed some poor bugger called Badcock who was bowling to him at the time. Richards smashed the ball back at Badcock who had no time to get a hand up to stop it. The ball crashed into his skull making an awful noise. As you can see that was the end of his bowling spell. 'twas also the end of his career at state level.

Yes, he was OK. But it was frightening. No helmet, and I really drilled it - it ricocheted out to deep extra cover off his head. He went to hospital for a scan, and all was fine. Fortunately it was on the side of the head behind the ear, so a thick part of the skull.
