Oh and no processed food-poo - but I say that only because simkat guilted me about the poor dietary value of such.
She who makes own lemon curd, lives long life.
(and writes plenty of haiku, I hope )
Speaking of drinking wine every day, I gave up all alcohol about 4-5 months ago. I'm thinking of going on a bender this weekend
I ate porridge for breakfast this morning. I ate porridge for dinner last night. Trufax.
My last meal before being executed would be char kway teoh. My first meal upon the reprieve, would also be char kway teoh. Or porridge.
You must go on a bender this weekend - not only because it's a Long Weekend - - but because teetotal is very baaaad for your health. It's a known fact that those who imbibe in moderation live longer than both those who are teetotal and those who are inebriate.
There's no better reason, than your longevity. Besides which, you'll make me feel like a guilty lush if ya don't.
About the char kway teoh. Yuv got it all wrong - surely it's part of the punishment, not part of the reward?
A most un-interesting story, about Lobkowicz Palace in Prague Castle. Turns out, the L family owned 13 palaces before WW11. The Prince had married an English woman and was in England when his country was occupied and his possessions confiscated.
After the war the Communists were in power and it all belonged to the Sate. Now, the grandson of that Prince, who was living quietly in the USA with his American wife, has had all his family's palaces and art treasures returned to him.
Gives a whole new meaning to 'I don't think I'll go to work today.'

I'm surprised there were any art treasures left?

It's called The Princely Collection.
Amazing work of art by Brueghel - the Hay Harvest; and paintings by Canaletto of London and the Thames. There's the original score of Beethoven's 5th symphony, *thud*. (The Princes were great patrons of musicians.) There are rare musical instruments; ceramics; and even guns and weaponry.
I know the latest Prince had to fight to have his possessions returned; but I can't tell you how those treasures actually remained. A true wonder though, because they're so integral to their heritage.

I wasn't mocking on this occasion. I really do want to know more about the dust.footwork wrote:ever hopeful wrote:I disagree, but maybe if it's only me who's interested then the thread title can still stand. For starters, I found the Singapore Cleaners' Day March quite interesting. It would have been an extra good idea if all the people who normally employ cleaners cleaned up after them on that day. I wonder if that happened.footwork wrote:Is this the 'wot I ate for tea' fred or sumpfink??

Okay so Singapore is a great place. I think it should run the world really.
There was a 'Celebrate Cleaners Day' street parade there recently. The cleaners marched and beamed, while grateful spectators showered them with confetti, rice and streamers. Made me wonder about the clean-up afterwards though.
Everyone's gone crazy hosing everybloodything including the live-in in-laws, after Dust Storms 1 and 2. That's My water they're wasting. Dunno whether to blame the dumbint Govament or the hosers. If any of yous Aussies have shiny cars, I'll be after yer - Zat, what are ya doin!?
I ate lean chicken, a salad with a few cashews and a yogurt for dinner last night. Yum.
I might eat a piece of dark chocolate this arvo, since it's good for your heart.
I don't believe there's one piece of info here, that's of any interest to anyone else, eh.
Phooey.
As for the thought of Australians hosing things down after the dust storms, I found that extremely interesting and want to know more. For instance: Are more dust storms forecast? How much mess is there? Did the dust get inside the buildings too? Do you get hosepipe bans over there? (We used to if we had more than two consecutive sunny days in July.)
Incidentally, for tea tonight I will be having tortelloni in mascarpone sauce with salad and crusty bread.
For your mockery, I will just give you more - eggs that is. In a two-egg omelette with asparagus, for my lunch.
For tea, we're having a prawn stirfry. Wok can I say - fish is lish. (okay it isn't fish, but close nuff.)
*The blue Danube is grey. Strauss lied.
* A noted Aussie composer, Peter Sculthorpe, used haiku as a basis for several of his compositions.
I prefer the cinquain meself:
Kitten
Haughty, naughty
Mewing, spewing, pooing,
Furrball of baby fun
Russian Blue.
Potry for Dummies.
I don't know what I'm having for tea as I'm not cooking tonight. Hope it's something nice though. Surely the Danube reflects the colour of the sky, to some extent at least? The song, "The Sun Has Got His Hat On" is also based on a lie. The sun never wears a hat.
Here's another non-interesting fact:
Nearly every time I type in "interesting" it comes out as "intersting" and I have to go back and put the other e in.

Have just realised all songs talking of broken hearts are also a lie.
Why did e have to go away? Will e return? Or is e just trine to make trubble for u?
Dustorms: Aftrer Dustorm 1, the guvament said we could hose all the red dust off our cars etc, so peeps went ballistic and hosed the entire state of NSW. Since our dam levels are extremely low, I was making morally superior snorting noises whenever I saw someone hosing their perfectly pristine house, or their street-gutters etc. (Normally we're allowed one bucket of water to hose our vehicles, and that must be done on the lawn, not the driveway.) I don't think any more such storms are predicted. As for getting inside buildings, it didn't get in my house, but I can't speak for others. If houses weren't properly sealed, I imagine the dust might've sneaked inside. Dustorm 2 turned out to be just a wildly windy day.
September was the driest month on record for us - and the hottest I think. Today's gonna be well over 30 in sunny Sydaney.

This is the first day in ages that I've spent time here and, after reading some of these threads, I have to say the level of insanity has hit an all time high. Or, is it just boredom?

"England winning The Ashes." That still puts the widest of grins on my face. The win at Lords meant so much to me. Good times!

Well, I can't have you feeling like a guilty lush, can I?
We're shacking it this Christmas so I was always planning on going into training at the start of December - but the weather's good and there's Becks in the fridge ... and my longevity is at stake.
Anyway, I'm wondering what constitutes a 'bender' after 4-5 months without a drop. I reckon two drinks and I'll go splat. :laule:

Ha! Char kway teoh is food from the godz!

There you go, going off-topic again! Who took what loot and who got their loot back is definitely something I'm interested in.
Back on topic, by early next year I hope to be living here:

The climate is harsh, and is probably going to play havoc with my good looks, but I think it will be a great adventure.
