Re: Time for a music thread
Jimi would have been 70 a couple of days ago ... hard to believe.

Aye. He died before I was born (a bit like the Beatles had broken up before I was born) yet he still seems so familiar and fresh.
Great song that one too.

Re: Time for a music thread
So, I've gone all modern and shiz and bought an iPod...
Mildly disturbed to count up and realise, upon putting all my CDs into iTunes, that I've spent bloody thousands of pounds on music over the years. It all adds up. On the sly.
Sneaky f*ckers, music people. They saw me coming.

Tell me about it ...
10565 items, 29.1 days playing time, 79.3 GB.
Not counting 400+ vinyl LPs, loads of singles, and a stack of cassettes ... most of the cassettes probably don't play any more.

Holy shit - I'm not even up to half that amount, yet think I've overindulged a tad...

Re: Time for a music thread
Zim: Impressive. You've probably been on your iTunes a little longer! I started converting all my CDs and making a few purchases in March last year.
Fittingly, perhaps, the first one I entered on 6 March last year was 'Things Gonna Change' by John Lee Hooker. Seemed random at the time ...
Have had to slow down the purchases (mostly buying stuff on iTunes that I only had on tape) over the last 6 months. Not enough cash to do it all!

Re: Time for a music thread
Only had an iPod for a few years tho I did have other MP3 players (like an old clunky iRiver)...
Haven't actually ever bought any music off iTunes...all my songs are either MP3s ripped from my own CDs or (ahem) ones I've 'found' for 'free' on the net...
Local bands I normally buy the CD, internationals I normally 'find' a copy...

Re: Time for a music thread
I've got, like 1,200ish songs... I got to that point, but then realised I wasn't an anal enough f*cktard to spend so long whacking shit onto a portable device.
Re: Time for a music thread
Who said anything about a portable device?
I've got a few songs on my iPhone, but only a fraction of the total above. Basically guitar stuff.

Beautiful cover of Bowie's Modern Love. Haven't seen the video.

Re: Time for a music thread
I'm sticking this one in - I don't do tunes in the music thread, as a rule, especially not pop-style wank. But I like it. Something different from the world of genericism.
Re: Time for a music thread
Heard he looked utterly dreadful at a recent 'Day On The Green' performance.
Sounds a dire diagnosis and prognosis.
