Re: The sookiest team of the decade
banindia has been the most consistently sooky
the pomgolians and their fans are close behind
for a period under Sniffy's leadership the saffies went for the tissues quite a lot - tho that has long since stopped
NSW are renowned sooks in Australia

Quantity or quality.
"Spirit of the game" circa Ashes 2009 would be a pretty good entry for Oz.
What have the Pommy team sooked about of late?

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
Was going to say that we'd be pretty low on the list, can't see many fans from other countries still stinging whilst their team are getting thrashed around the park, and I can't recall many sooky captains or players from this decade from England.

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
Oh clearly: Ricky Ponting's Australia, Graeme Smith's South Africa, Chris Gayle's West Indies (in recent times).
India whenever Ganguly or Yuvraj Singh opened their mouths.
Don't hear Sri Lanka grumble about too many things. Weird that. Must be the Murali factor.

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
I admire their efforts after so many beatings to not sook when they must be tempted to have a whinge..
this is in contrast to the pomgolians during their 16 year horror stretch when they were regulalrly flogged and as regularly sooked

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
hmmn...he did bat well in 89 - but the english angst certainly against Australia had as much to with other Oz players (eg TGM and tgm, gilly) and owed a lot to the defeatism of the English

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
phurt...he had a very good team for the most part - some excellent players and a couple of champs...would have been far better had TGM been captain and Ksnr and Kjnr played fewer tests.

Re: The sookiest team of the decade
If Steve Waugh was given the side that Ponting has now, I personally reckon he could mould them together and he certainly wouldn't allow two Ashes tours to slip through the net. He wouldn't stand for it, as a batsman or a captain.
IMO he could probably get by without two all time greats in the side, and still produce convincing results and he wouldn't declare on 454 either.

Because that's what "I personally reckon" . . . . and I've actually seen Waugh play a few times . . .
