Not saying for certain that he wasn't cheating, but if he was then it was a pretty shit attempt, trapping the ball like that would have done nothing, should have stamped on it harder if cheating was his aim.

So either, he didn't cheat or he did but he's really shit at it.

I'll bow to your greater knowledge on that one. Was it as hopelessly inept as Broad's? Seems to me he just did what most of us have done at some point without thinking about it. I doubt he would be so stupid as to try to cheat in full public view though, and if he was trying to, it didn't bloody work did it? Presumably the umpires had a good look at the ball.

Sky showed pictures of him with two hands on the ball, the top hand seemingly legitimately shining the ball and movement of the bottom hand on the seam/rough side but it's obscured by the top but frankly there's nothing to go on with those pics.

The second set of images show Anderson lightly 'stroking' the rough side of the ball with the tip of his fingers (not gauging or digging nails in) and then picking off a pertruding bit of leather off the ball.

The images are in slow motion and in itself look stupid and slightly dodgy but not tantamount to trying to gain an advantage by shredding the ball
