Two stories in this mornings Fairtfax papers. On the front page of the SMH:
Howard pads away rumours of world cricket job.

And in the sport section:
Spnky not in favour of LJH being nominated to head ICC.

Given that the head of the ICC has generally been ineffective in recent years, does it really matter who's in the chair? After all, the only thing they really seem to have to do is to lube up for the BCCI to slip in the tradesmen's entrance. Howard, as an ex-pollie, seems eminently suited to that.

yes you should be worried as should we all....little Johnny Howard (only the 2nd Aus PM to lose his own seat in a general election) would be a divisive influence in international cricket...his history of playing the race card would make Zimmy look like Mahatma Ghandi and Bucky like Nelson Mandela by comparison...his appointment could be the death knell of international cricket...

his first action as VP of the ICC would be to seek the readmission of Rhodesia to International cricket..
