Harmison's turn to have a whinge Empty Harmison's turn to have a whinge

Post by Neil D Sat 03 Nov 2007, 23:11

How dare Fletcher have a pop at Harmi's bestest bum-chum?

Maybe if Harmison spent more time training and less time moaning, he'd be able to hit the cut strip.

Aye.

But for a change Harmison actually writes something that gives the impression he's not a self-obsessed half-wit, so credit where it's due (his ghost writer).

Totally Agree with Dello on this one. I'm surprised, its not like Harmison to use his head in interviews.

All, I'm saying, I have respect for the guy and all, but you have to imagine if Monty was interviewed.

Has anyone read the Cricinfo article on Monty's book? Apparently, its an appalling read. Sad

"If Fletcher had a big problem with Freddie's drinking in Australia, why on earth didn't he do something about it? As coach it was his decision. His call.He had the chance to act but he says he didn't take action against Fred that day in Sydney because of how the press might have reacted.

"Well some might ask if he wasn't prepared to do something he clearly felt was right for the side because it might turn out to be unpopular, what was he doing in the job in the first place?"

Most sense Harmison has ever spoken in his life....

Duh, isn't it obvious? Taking action right then might've seemed to be the right thing to do for the side from one angle, but it could well've totally screwed up the team's morale and hence their chances, plus maybe led to a suspension or two for Flintoff. A drunk and sub-par Fred's better than no Fred, is what he might've thought. Close call, and he ended up taking the path of inaction. I wouldn't say it was the easier path. Now, when he's been blamed for everything since that Ashes disaster, he thought he might as well defend himself. A tad irresponsible, yeah, but a man's got to do what he's go to do.

Monty's interviews are rubbish.

Athers: Were you pleased with your bowling today, Monty?

Panesar: Yeah, well you know, I just tried to put the ball in the right areas and cause the batsman some problems. It's always difficult playing against world class players like Australia's and we're just hoping to build on this tomorrow.

Athers: The pitch seemed to be really turning today. You really ripped one or two out.

Panesar: Yeah, well you know, I've been working hard on bowling spin in the nets and you know, I just tried to put the ball in the right areas and make the batsman play. But, you know, these are world class players and hopefully we can build upon this in the morning session, tomorrow.

Athers: And you managed to get a few runs with the bat as well. You looked like you were enjoying yourself.

Panesar: Yeah, well, you know, I've been working hard on improving my batting in the nets and I know it's important to improve all areas of my game. Hopefully I will keep improving with the bat and you know, watching great players like Kevin Pietersen bat is very helpful. Yeah, but hopefully we can build upon our first innings tomorrow and put them under some, err, some pressure, you know, by continuing to put the ball in the right areas.

Athers: What's the spirit like in the dressing room at the moment?

Panesar: You know, we're all trying our best and the team is fully focused on the series ahead. Hopefully we can build upon this first days play tomorrow. We can do this by putting the ball in the right areas.

Athers: Sikhism's rubbish.

Panesar: (laughs) Yeah, well you know, if we put the ball in the right areas and get a big first innings lead I'm sure you'll change your mind.

Athers: Thanks Monty.

No talking in third person. That's a relief. Was getting quite annoying by the English cricketers.

As for Monty's book, how much would there be to write in a career spanning less than 20 matches.

From the review:

And so, when the enthusiasm comes, there's no alternative but to note it down in all its glorious triviality. Take a childhood trip to India for instance - the most interesting thing that happened to Monty was, bizarrely, the sight of a Chinese boy crying in the street. The most "embarrassing" tale that he is able to bring back from the recent World Cup - surely a haven of embarrassment - was the night he turned off his air conditioning and awoke to find the floor and his kit were damp.

Can't wait... Sleep

I think you forgot to put about 20 obviously's in there. Very Happy

Now if it was a South African sentences would begin yeh no. If it was Sidebottom there would be 35 you knows or at least 5 in each sentence.

It's OK, Zat, I know you were only unable to get the 50 decibel 'you're crap' out because you were laughing so hard. It wasn't because you're a weak Dubber.
