Actually, I was pretty close to laying a pineapple on Big Phil overnight as he was the only real challenger for Westwood. Obviously I didn't end up doing it.

What was the payout on a pineapple on Moobs? Better than that for the $10 EW you had earlier on Westwood?

Re: The US Masters 2010
The shot that Moobs fired (15th I think) off the deep pine needles from under and between the trees to land the ball 6 feet from the pin was unf**kin'believable.
Destroyed Westwood with that one, I reckon.
PS - Anyone notice how Woods's swearing has increased - both in volume and in content - now that he's undertaken anger/sex management therapy?!

Re: The US Masters 2010
Westwood played well for three days but couldn't find his a game for the last day. Even if he had he'd have probably only made a play-off, lost to the better guy in the end. However, he's the latest in a long line of British/English sportsmen who have the talent but haven't yet won a major event (in various sports). That he's been thereabouts numerous times in the last couple of years shows that, but he couldn't string four rounds of consistency together to contend with Mickelson's dynamo few rounds.

Westwood had his chances yesterday when Mickleson started hitting his drives anywhere but the fairway - but he was unable to ram home any advantage.

Westwood stood up and played like a man.
Mickelson was magnificent.

How did Tiger Woods not win this tournament? Wasn't he the only player? Certainly seemed that way from the press in the lead-up.

I think if Woods had pulled his other club out of the bag, the one he has spent most of his time practicing with, he might very well have had enough oomph to get home.

Re: The US Masters 2010
If he had his time over again, you'd think Westwood might've been a little less conservative on a few shots.
But I guess that's the difference in approach between a bloke who has already got three majors under his belt and is prepared to risk losing to force victory and a fella who turned up on the final day hoping he was going to win.

Not just the press - I was getting fairly teed off with the TV coverage (pictures from CBS I think) - umpteen replays of every shot, Tiger walking to the tee, Tiger walking off the tee, Tiger scratching his arse etc, etc.

I suspect his Mrs is still shoving his wood back in his bag every time he tries to bring it out, ready to play.

Re: The US Masters 2010
Mickelson lost a lot of majors in the past because he was ultra-aggressive. This week he won one because he was ultra-aggressive.
I think if Westwood tried to take him on his challenge might have ended in a watery grave.
I'm not sure if I buy into Mickelson's whole "Mr Nice Guy" persona, but I do know that I like it when a golfer backs himself... and pulls it off.

There is a healthy hatred between Moobs ("Nice Guy" [snigger]) and Calender Boy. May it long continue.

Re: The US Masters 2010
Like Hass, I too have never bought into Mikelson's "Nice Guy" personna ... however, watching him take some emotional time out with his Missus (recently quite ill) and two daughters before going into the hut to sign off, was refreshing - whilst Westwood's patient wait in the background was also good to see.
Gone off Woods completely ... far too much unnecessary abuse and anger almost every second hole ... which ironically, never happened in the past when he was distracted by another species of hole ...

Re: The US Masters 2010
It's just possible that Woods might be a busted flush - the aura that went with him, and probably won him some of his victories, has vanished. Now he is just another player - still a good one, but not unbeatable.
What odds he misses the Ryder Cup?

Woods has always been sweary and anti-social, it's just that until the media found out he shagged around they ignored that fact. He's totally focused on himself, it made him a great golfer, it also made him a crap husband and father. Men like him have always had that kind of personality, we just don't over look it anymore when they get found out.

aye!
You also noticed that the tide has turned, just a little. They used the word "scandal" a number times. That's new. Even noted Woods sycophants Jim Nance & Peter Kostis questioned his "profane" language and ill-temper. That's new.
I wonder if the little morality lecture/scolding delivered by the Augusta Chairman on behalf of the members was a catalyst?

aye to this too.
Westwood was fantastic. He played to his own strengths. Some other approach would not have bought a better result, as you say. A couple of shots out of a total 270 odd they played over 4 days. That's a lone putt that dropped for him and not for him.
