The outstanding 3yo filly Great Heavens loves heavy tracks. I might have something on her. And Camelot.

Olympic Glory wins Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere for two year olds. I was pleased to see that as I thought he was up to winning a Group One after scoring a very impressive victory in the Gp 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood back in August. Olympic Glory is a son of Australian stallion Choisir.

WW's crazy prediction for the day -
More Joyous to finish UNPLACED in the Toorak.
Who will win it?
Dunno, but the Russian novelist should perform very well.

Hey.
I know what you are all thinking -
WideWally is a genius.
WideWally is a god.
But I'm not, you know.
I'm just an average Queenslander.

Well, Black Caviar's little brother just kicked Pierro's tits in.
Ordinary ride by Rawiller though.

Gai Waterhouse often promises a lot in Melbourne but they don't come to fruition.

Amazing performance to win that with 58kg on his back. I was on Alcopop & thought he was going to win until Dunaden swamped him.

It happened again this week. Glencadam Gold was beaten as soon as they hit the home straight in the Caulfield Cup & earlier in the day Kabayan was unplaced as a short priced favourite in the Norman Robinson Stakes.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
In the Caulfield Cup, the horses that were 1, 2 & 3 in the running ended up last, second last & fourth last while the horses that finished first & second both came from the tail of the field.
What does that tell you?
Answer - They went too fast.
With that in mind, the run of My Quest For Peace was very good to finish 5th after being up near the pace throughout.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
In a couple of hours we say farewell on the racetrack to the great Frankel when he contests the Champion Stakes at Ascot. The big worry is the state of the track which is offically soft. There is a bit of a question mark about him on wet tracks while Cirrus Des Aigles is very good on them. I would hate to see Frankel lose his unbeaten record because of the soft track.

Excelebration has just bolted in with the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. An absolutely dominant performance. When he isn't running against Frankel, he is just about unbeatable over a mile.

Weren't there questions about Frankel's participation because of it yesterday?WideWally wrote:In a couple of hours we say farewell on the racetrack to the great Frankel when he contests the Champion Stakes at Ascot. Re: The Horse Racing Thread
That might have been a possibility although the reports I read didn't mention it. I think the track is not quite as bad as they feared at one stage.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
Frankel's done it but it wasn't as easy as normal. He missed the start & also had to battle up the home straight against a gallant Cirrus Des Aigles winning by about a length and a half.

Normally at this time of year, the Flaming Bails forum is buzzing with Melbourne Cup fever. It doesn't seem to be happening this year. I guess everyone realises that Mount Athos is a certainty.
