Poor Mick, in some quarters he's remembered as much for that last ball slogged 6 by Daniel as he is for his phenomenally successful solo Test

DKL is probably lucky Gabba Dan got injured at the Gabba because he might have been dropped for the spinners for the last tests.
Imagine DKLs career ending with him being dropped for Tom Hogan or Greg Matthews FFS.
Lillee's effort in that Adelaide match when he nearly wound up mixing cordial, was one of his more under-rated efforts - 6 for 170-something on an absolute M1.. That Adelaide pitch was no place for the Gabba Dans of this world - esp not the 22-year-old version. Take DKL out of that attack and Pak would probably still be batting,
(Did DKL take more '5-for-a-tons' than any other bowler?)

Does he even have a second greatest claim to fame?

Aye, some magnificent leg-cut bowling on a dead wicket. IIRC, that was the Test that Nein tried Kate Fitzpatrick in the com-box, and she went on about Qasim Umar's (it was Omar at the time) eyes. I missed Fitz's commentary career in its entirety - she never uttered a word any time I was watching. By all accounts I was lucky.
The closest Nein have come to repeating the experiment was Nicholas I suppose....not any great improvement there....

Of players taking more than 5 test wickets, Malone does have the best batting average / bowling average ratio.

You will be pleased to know that Kate is a member of this forum. She posts as "Red" because of the colour of her hair.
Here is an article which mentions that famous commentary career with a classic line from Kerry Packer.
