Re: French Open Tennis
Match not over, but the Italian looking good in the tie-break.
Easy to say this in hindsight, but why was Schiavone paying 4.75, she has played really well all tournament.

I've parlayed it into Rafa at 1.25.

Re: French Open Tennis
Sodders putting up about as much of a fight as Bangladesh at Old Trafford it appears. Shame really after the tournament he's had.
Different surface I know but Nadal must be a good shout to regain the Wimbledon title he was unable to defend last year? Barring injury I can't see anyone stopping him and Federer contesting another final there.

He's a choke artist, can turn in on in the early rounds but when the Championship is there he bottles it big time, same happened last year.
I wish Nadal would just break his knees and f*ck off.

22-0 this season on clay....
Nadal should be fairly close to being the greatest clay court player of all time.

He seems like a nice blokebut I just find him intensely annoying, and he has a very ugly style of play compared to the graceful Federer.PlanetPakistan wrote:thats a shame because Nadal is my favorite sportsman on the planet even ahead of D Steyn and Aamer

First time he hasn't made the semi final of any Slam since the French Open in 2004. Astonishing record and had to end sometime but you get the feeling that his demise as a top player might be starting. Still think he has a couple more GS wins in him yet though.
It's been a slow decline over the last 7 years.

Until last year I was actually giving him too much credit, he had only won one more GS after my comment until Aus 2017 and didn't look like he was going to add to his tally.lardbucket wrote:vilkrang wrote:Fed goes out in the quarters .

If he had gone to a larger racket head a few years ago he could be sitting on 25 slams, but 20 isn't too shabby I suppose .

Could be an All-Aussie final in the ladies with both Barty and Konta playing unseeded opponents.

Re: French Open Tennis
Appropriate that we’re on the 2010 thread, because men’s tennis hasn’t moved on. At this rate Federer, Nadal and Djokovic will still be winning Grand Slam singles titles in 2030, when they’re eligible for the golden oldies exhibition doubles.

Just goes to show tennis is an easy game when an average Aussie cricketer makes the semis.

Meanwhile, Federer making the semis is surely a blight on the men's game - where TF are the challengers to the Big 3? It's going to be Rafa v Novak yet again in a final.

Yeah, he’s nearly 38 and playing on his weakest surface, which he’s skipped completely the past couple of years! What happened to all the Spanish and South American “grass is for cows” clay specialists?JGK wrote:Meanwhile, Federer making the semis is surely a blight on the men's game - where TF are the challengers to the Big 3? There just seems to be a generation of players lacking in belief, hunger, motivation or whatever, to overturn the old order... still no male player born in the ‘90s has won a Grand Slam title, you start to wonder if one ever will!
