To be honest, I thought Stosur had no chance against The Butt.

Most blokes would be no chance against The Butt, so your gut feel was understandable. Sam played some massive shots.
Hope she carries on from here, and not suffer a big let down after disposing of two giants in Henin and Williams.

First set in the bag for Sam. She's played very well but came up with some wild serves in that final game when serving for the set.

Yes!
6-1, 6-2
I reckon Sam was struggling a little with her nerves early on in the second set but once she got to the lead had too much class for Weird Al.

God, please don't choke now, Sammy!!

Well Stosur is being out-thought and out-fought by an Italian at the moment.
How embarrassing.

Re: French Open Tennis
Despite Rafa's and Henin's dominance of the French Open in the past several years, the French Open still comes up with so many unheard of champions.
Is this because the clay brings the playing field level. Or is it because the French Open is the easiest, or the hardest to win?

Probably because it's a specialists' tournament. Most are played on hard courts and the best players tend to be adept at grass court play with fewer serve/volleyers now that there are not too many events on grass. The clays throws up unusual results with some clay specialists who struggle on other surfaces sometimes prevailing against more highly ranked players.
