Is this an actual real world record agreed by the cricket statisticians?
There is going to be an actual statistic for this?
ey? whats an 'actual real' world record
it was the basis of a cricinfo article 4-5 months ago where they did an analysis of batsmen averaging above 40 in all countries and against all countries
its a bit like first batsman to get test hundreds against all 9 test countries, etc

Saying someone is 'the first to' implies 'world record'.

He'll be the first Indian who's better than BCL.

Three Test series are not a quality contest.

5 would be better. but better 3 interesting tests between quality opposition than 5 boring ones between mediocre teams

My point exactly. You've got #1 v #2 here. Poor planning from both boards.

i dont think south africa has had a series of more than 3 tests vs any team other than eng and wi since re-admission
the last time india had a 5 test series was vs windies in 2002. the only teams we seem to play 4 test series with is aus and eng
sadly 3 seems to be the norm for most series nowadays

Re: India vs South Africa 2010/11
its kind of funny though. in the 60s/70s/80s india played loads of 5 test and 6 test series with most of the matches ending in draws
now when there are more results in tests we see only 3 tests and the odd 4 test series. not to mention the smattering of 2 test series

India isn't keen on the technology being used for the tests in Africa so there will be no UDRS in the series.
Also interesting to see if they pick this guy now that they've nearly got his papers in order.

Didn't India sook out of a 4 test series in SA by refusing to play the last test?

Re: India vs South Africa 2010/11
How many warm up matches do India have? Just the one? Nowhere near enough preparation for South African conditions. They'll get hammered in the first test.
I seem to remember last time they toured South Africa, they played their specialist test players like Jaffer in the ODIs just so they could get some extra match practice going into the tests.

Players rested from the ODIs are travelling over there to acclimate.

Um no. Don't you remeber the sooking, toy throwing, threatening episode when SRT was suspended and the Centurion match was played as a friendly.
I guess you guys are so used to these episodes you can't remember them all.

But I reckon that means nothing unless they're actually playing in the middle. I was in South Africa for three months. My ability to play cricket on South African pitches was not enhanced in the slightest.

actually the number of tour matches is zero. we get there just 3 days before the start of the 1st test
one more reason why india struggles in the first test of any series. no prep. thankfully most of the test players will get to saffrica 10 days before the first test. but no practice games, just nets

Curators have predicted some spicy pitches. May be the opposite to the Ashes series.

Either way it was a typical disgraceful subi performance.
BTW the 92/93 series was 4 tests.
