Isn’t that what Chappelli was saying?

lardy will never miss a chance to stick the knife into his old mate, Francis.

The useless turd should never have been selected. Not his fault but the selectors’ overlooking of Lawry, Redpath, and McKenzie for the 1972 series was a joke. Francis, Taber, Colley (all NSW) and Watson were passengers; so was Dougie as it turned out. Edwards would have been a perfectly capable backup keeper.

Lawry and McKenzie had their files marked NTPFAA after their dropping in or prior to the 70-71 series.
Redders declined to tour to concentrate on his antique store.

That's not strictly true in the case of Redders ... he was actually dropped after a poor 1971-72 season. He did put in a lot of extra work in his store when he was not chosen, but he definitely wanted to go. Of course he came back a year later, better than ever, and carried on through 75-76 before retiring (though he came back again for WSC).
McKenzie played the first two games in 1971-72 and was fully recovered after a poor late 1970 early 1971.
Bradman and his subservient co-selectors loaded the 1972 side up with Dubbers.
John Benaud nearly made the side ahead of Sheahan / Ross Edwards.

Larry, I have always agreed with your position on Francis but I think Mitch Marsh is a worthy challenger. IMHO MM is the worst Australian Test cricket to have been gifted so many games.
