A few Aussie players could be in trouble....
......Apparently a few Aussie players were spotted in a Melbourne bar some time after midnight last night. Disciplinary action likely.
Meh, why not. They knew they were going to lose and the players in the bar were apparently top and middle order batsmen who were already out. They must have been feeling shattered and wanted to numb the pain a bit. As long as they didn't cause trouble then I see no harm in it.

drinking when a match is still on is poor form. if they are senior players even more so, they should be setting an example

But they're human beings. The thought of being alone in their hotel rooms and pondering their impending defeat would have been depressing in the extreme.

Drinking whilst they were actually on the field couldn't have been any worse than playing cold sober.

for some I doubt the impending defeat was being contemplated...more likely the potential loss of income from kfc ads if they get dropped/retired...I see absolutely no harm in it at all

Well Hughes and Clarke have done this before. Clarke after he broke up with Bingle, and Hughes during the 2009 Ashes. Shane Watson looked a bit dazed and confused during an interview this morning as well.

...but watto always looks dazed and confused Trev...that is because he has pea brain..doubtless this impediment will not stop CA appointing him as deputy dawg to Clarke...perhaps there is a case for positive discrimination

Re: A few Aussie players could be in trouble....
surely captain drunky would be one
test players face depressing defeats quite a few times in their career. not all see the need to cuddle up to a bottle while the match is still on, however hopeless it might seem

And it's not like they haven't lost a series or even the Ashes before.

I think Drunky actually attended AA or something similar for a while following an incident early in his career. I doubt it would have been him.The One wrote:surely captain drunky would be one

I don't have a problem with a player, or even a few players, having a couple of ales together during a match, but if they were out late in a nightclub or any venue really, they should be given the arse.

Trev, by now you should know about the cred problem that comes with careless use of the word 'apparently'....

Seems Henry was right on this. Except for the disciplinary action forecast.Henry wrote:......Apparently a few Aussie players were spotted in a Melbourne bar some time after midnight last night. Disciplinary action likely.

Add this to the fact that both Clarke and Hughes attended a breakfast function for the Shane Warne foundation on Boxing Day morning, and surely you have to conclude that a) Clarke is not fit to be captain, and b) Hughes is a dumb, weak minded and easily led astray little sh!t.

"I have absolutely no idea what time I got home, but I guarantee you it wasn't late."
Clarke is a bit simple isn't he?

Clarke is a bit simple in the same way that the Pacific Ocean is a bit deep, or that The Sun is a bit hot.

Re: A few Aussie players could be in trouble....
"I left the restaurant and went to the casino to catch up with [former Test star] Michael Slater to talk about batting because I wasn't scoring as many runs as I would have liked."
What an idiot. Is that really his defence? So going from a bar to a casino to talk with known party animal and loose cannon Slats is fine?
I was prepared to be a bit lenient on them for being at the bar. The test WAS all but over after all. But Clarke is doing this sort of thing far too often considering he's been anointed as the next Aussie skipper (Indeed, 48 hours after that photo was taken, he was appointed skipper in Ponting's absence.)

On the comments for that story someone was saying he was involved in screwing up Symond's career. What's the deal there?

From what I can gather Clarke pulled Symonds aside in a bar one night during the 2008 tour of the Caribbean and told him he was pissing away his career and needed to wake (sober) up. Symonds took it the wrong way, pushed Clarke off his bar stool, and stormed off. They had been considered good mates before that but i'm not sure the friendship ever recovered.
You'd have to say Clarke was right, though.
