The galoot was warned that his stunt would cause trouble. There is no excuse for the rabid, murderous behaviour in Afghanistan, but it wouldn't have happened if the twit had heeded warnings as he did 6 months ago.

And now the cops in his county have to watch his back. Hmm, I wonder what the police are thinking?

He's got the game in the bag, has the Rev. Jones.

With police protection he can pull these show-pony stunts and make a hero of himself to his 'followers' at no personal risk, he can throw the 'freedom of speech' red herring at any attempt by the authorities to curtail him or anybody who criticises him (true, there's nothing illegal about what he's doing, it's just stupid, self-indulgent and pointless - at best).

And he can feed (and then feed off) the paranoia and ego of his 'flock' by means of that other old chestnut about 'they hate us therefore we must be doing something right', or 'just another prophet dismissed as a madman' (a fate he'd share with about 7 prophets and about 7 gazillion madmen).

Yeah - Jesus, Mahommed, Gandhi, Mandela, Warne, Kyle Sandilands and VoR (assuming the latter two are actually two different people).

Seriously, the point was much more about the likely ratio of froot loops per prophet...

But you could add Sun Byung Moon (fake name, of course), "Rev." Jim Jones and all these guys ... , *MONOMANIACS SADLY NOT ANONYMOUS*, and you would still only be scratching the surface - only the "Christian" "new messiahs" - among the arrogant manipulators and exploiters.

But point taken the first time, in fact Wink

So does that mean any time someone suitably inclined burns a bible, which will offend many Christians, should be treated the same? Or because most christian faiths wouldn't retaliate, is it not such a big deal?

Perhaps religion should be banned...

I wonder where those who support Jones's 'rights' in this matter sit in relation to flag-burning?

More 'if I desecrate your icons I'm politically incorrect, if you desecrate mine you're offensive', I suspect.

"i am thinking of a certain building in Jolimont that is going to waste/is a waste of space/contains waste"

If you're thinking of the one I'm thinking of (about 10 acres of stone steps out the front, just across the road from the Sheraton), I dunno if it's in Jolimont.

Aye, very sad. Saw them just last week actually (though obviously not with Scott).

Doubt anyone had him on their list.

Jesus - it wasn't a mystery illness, was it?

It's an epidemic. Musicians of the word, beware.

To be strictly accurate, Pastor Jones did not burn the Koran but his associate, Wayne Sapp, as shown here:
