Like I said before though, we may miss Colly's ability to bowl 10 overs of wobblers each innings unless we pick Bopara to replace him.

The thing about about a four bowler strategy now that Colly has retired is who is going to fill in? KP's bowling can't be taken seriously - so it comes down to either Trott or Bell. The Belf used to turn his arm over quite regularly for the Bears once upon a time - perhaps we might see more of his bowling.

In an ideal world - Samit Patel would shed three stone and be the player that he once threatened to be!

He was named in the initial 30 for the WC. So the selectors haven't entirely forgotten about him. Perhaps the carrot has been dangled - or should that be the burger?

But how long has it been now since England tried to give him a kick up the backside? Two years? The only thing that seems to have gone down since then is his batting average.

Trott is a reasonable medium pieman good for 5-6 overs and KP is always worth a couple of overs.

Don't know why Bell seems to have given bowling up - back injuries maybe...

Trott was a genuine batting all rounder ala Kallis early in his career.

As Australia knew, but seemingly didn't appreciate at a CA level when we had TGM.
